Just back from our first visit to this friendly, cosy, beer lovers haven-a warm welcome from all the staff, a lovely room, and a very cosy and welcoming pub. We were here for a short mid-week break and thoroughly enjoyed our stay-we're already talking about returning for the October beer fest! Food was excellent quality and good value, and the... More

We stayed overnight and the food was excellent, the pub welcoming and very do friendly. We wished we had more time to do justice to the excellent breakfast but unfortunately we had an early start. Staff got up extra early to do breakfast for us. Locals were very friendly and helpful in giving us directions for the next morning. Bedrooms... More

My husband & I stayed with our little dog, for one night on thurs 5th March, recently. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome & we enjoyed a beautiful meal (the haddock cupcakes with beer batter were meltingly gorgeous!) along with excellent ale! We stayed in the Kipling room & it was so comfortable we were sad we'd... More

We stayed here to try it out as accommodation for our wedding party in November. The rooms were comfortable, the staff were friendly and they have a very good selection of real ales and ciders. Next time we will try the food as this also looked good.

We live in Bakewell and drive to the Old Poets in Ashover every week-end so decided to stay over for the Beer Festival this weekend. We have had a fantastic time, the accommodation was first class, very comfortable and nothing was to much trouble. The food was great and the staff really get it as far as customer service goes.... I stayed here in December on a Tuesday to coincide with the folk evening and a pre Christmas trip to Chatsworth House farm shop. The pub was warm and inviting, lovely open fire, good food and the music/singers all made a really enjoyable evening. The rooms upstairs are comfortable and an added bonus for long distance travellers.

We stayed at the Old Poets in December 2014 for four nights over our son's wedding nearby. We booked all the rooms and had most of the family staying with us at the Old Poets. We had a wonderful weekend and were looked after incredibly well by Kim and Heather and their team. The rooms are comfortable enough, and the... More

Third or fourth time vie stayed at the pub and yet to be disappointed. service was excellent along with the food. Beer needs no further comments apart from truly fantastic. Room was very clean, plenty of character and large bathroom. Cannot wait to stay again.
