My self and 3 friends recently stayed here whilst attending a wedding. We arrived around 2pm to find the pub full inside and out. Most tables were enjoying lunch which smelt great. After an easy check in we all decided to eat before getting ready. The food was all lovely and diddnt take as long as expected for how busy... More

Great beer, lovely food very friendly staff throughout. Rooms are nicely decorated. Kettle lead needs to be 2" longer for a perfectly comfy stay. Slightly odd arrangement getting to the rooms but it's a charming hotel / pub / brewery / village to spend a few days. Don't miss the village shop opposite.

This was a Sunday curry night, great selection of beers, curry average but acceptable. Rooms very basic but functional. Would stay here again but one night would be enough. It seems a very dog friendly place.

We have just stayed here for a family wedding and had the whole place and the adjoining cottage booked out to accommodate us all. The Pub is excellent with a good range of Beers, the beers brewed on the premises are especially nice. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The accommodation is typical of an old pub B&B, the... A lovely old pub with bags of character, it was pretty empty when we went - I don't know if that means anything. But service was good, that staff were lovely, they had a good rage of beers (I would have liked to try them all, but I was driving), and the food was good pub grub, fish chips and... More

Stayed for 2 nights in the Kipling room. I'm now covered in bruises from trying to get past the fireplace mantelpiece to get to the bed. God help anyone slightly overweight. The room is rustic at best. The bathroom should have been ripped out years ago. There isn't even a towel rail. And there is a knack to flush the... More

The Poets at Ashover it has to be said is one of the best pubs around. Excellent range of well kept beers, their own brewery (Poets Tipple - superb!), ciders and whisky's. Not the cheapest pint you'll buy but then you have to accept its popularity justifies the price. The meat and potato pie with chips mushy peas and chips... More
