A group of us called last night, just for a social drink and a chat and we were really impressed. Great landlord and staff are really friendly. The beers are superb and the service was excellent. We didn't eat there but when we saw the food being served we wished we had. What a great pub and I will be... More

I have stopped overnight many times in the pub rooms & the excellent cottage. It really is great. I come with friends every year & changed this year to coincide with the beer festival in March which proved to be an excellent decision. We have a family weekend every August staying again in the cottage. Everyone staff & visitors are... More

This is the second time we have stopped over The festival was well run and did not interfe with the main pub and residents We like this venue for the real ales brewed on site and the food which is superb. Also a bonus is the facility to take dogs who are separate from the main dining area at meal times... The Old Poets' Corner is easily recommended. We recently stayed for two nights and wished it could have been for longer. The room was very comfortable and clean. The food is excellent with a real flavour of 'home cooking'. The bar area of the pub has two log fires giving it a cosy relaxing feeling. If you're a bitter fan... More

Just back from our first visit to this friendly, cosy, beer lovers haven-a warm welcome from all the staff, a lovely room, and a very cosy and welcoming pub. We were here for a short mid-week break and thoroughly enjoyed our stay-we're already talking about returning for the October beer fest! Food was excellent quality and good value, and the... More

We stayed overnight and the food was excellent, the pub welcoming and very do friendly. We wished we had more time to do justice to the excellent breakfast but unfortunately we had an early start. Staff got up extra early to do breakfast for us. Locals were very friendly and helpful in giving us directions for the next morning. Bedrooms... More

My husband & I stayed with our little dog, for one night on thurs 5th March, recently. We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome & we enjoyed a beautiful meal (the haddock cupcakes with beer batter were meltingly gorgeous!) along with excellent ale! We stayed in the Kipling room & it was so comfortable we were sad we'd... More

We stayed here to try it out as accommodation for our wedding party in November. The rooms were comfortable, the staff were friendly and they have a very good selection of real ales and ciders. Next time we will try the food as this also looked good.

We live in Bakewell and drive to the Old Poets in Ashover every week-end so decided to stay over for the Beer Festival this weekend. We have had a fantastic time, the accommodation was first class, very comfortable and nothing was to much trouble. The food was great and the staff really get it as far as customer service goes....
