I stayed here in December on a Tuesday to coincide with the folk evening and a pre Christmas trip to Chatsworth House farm shop. The pub was warm and inviting, lovely open fire, good food and the music/singers all made a really enjoyable evening. The rooms upstairs are comfortable and an added bonus for long distance travellers.

We stayed at the Old Poets in December 2014 for four nights over our son's wedding nearby. We booked all the rooms and had most of the family staying with us at the Old Poets. We had a wonderful weekend and were looked after incredibly well by Kim and Heather and their team. The rooms are comfortable enough, and the... More

Third or fourth time vie stayed at the pub and yet to be disappointed. service was excellent along with the food. Beer needs no further comments apart from truly fantastic. Room was very clean, plenty of character and large bathroom. Cannot wait to stay again.

Called for Lunch after reading Trip Advisor - bar staff very friendly. However it was a little off putting watching various people in wellingtons walking in and out of the Kitchen. The food arrived and the Liver & Onions tasted nice but was swamped in gravy, so much it washed the mash away a little less would be better. The... More

I wish my local was as nice as this pub. It is one of the nicest pubs I have been to. Nice atmosphere. Friendly bar staff. Good selection of beers and the pork pies are spot on. Seems to be very animal friendly as when i went in the other week i found 8 dogs and a hawk in there.

Traditional Country Pub with open fires in a lovely village, incorporating its own Micro Brewery in the back yard. Pretty quiet on a Monday lunchtime. Good range of cask beers. Personable staff. I tried the chilli, which was tasty, but a little dry. Lots of events here, from Burns Night to Quiz etc. seems to represent the hub of village... More

Stayed for two nights to attend a wedding. While the rooms might be a little "snug" why would you want to stay in your room when there is a great pub downstairs. A great selection of beers. Staff extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic, exactly what a full English should be. A great place to stay and would... More

I despise a place that rings a bell and anounces a lager drinker... Get over it and further more, get with the times! I like the place. The ales and beers are nice. But to practically humiliate someone who orders a lager is a joke. It's not acceptable to take someone's money for a drink and try and publically humiliate... More

We booked all the rooms at OP'sC recently as well as its cottage next door for an 80th birthday celebration. The management helped us organise a hot & cold buffet for 40 adults and children of all ages in a room upstairs and could not have been more helpful with suggestions for seating, food choices etc. A good time was...
