The Bell provides a comfortable friendly destination. It meets my expectations of comfortable, not cramped, accommodation, a town centre bar with an excellent restaurant Various stuffed heads of animals are in the bar, which makes extensive use of locally-grown hops as decoration. Quite why a moose's head has pride of place escapes me; perhaps a later reviewer will shed light.... More

I have eaten at the Bell before and know the food is very good. It was let down this time by the over cooked liver; I had asked for it to be pink it was certainly not. All our starters were excellent, especially the watercress soufflé. The main dishes were said to be good; especially the salmon. The liver tasted... More

Just spent 2 nights here, our room was so comfortable and the bathroom had an amazing shower, the owners and staff couldn't have been any nicer, breakfast was so good, and dinner was divine - I reccomend the monkfish ! Great buzz in the bar, Love the old feel of the inn, we will definitely return.

Charming quintessentially English home counties establishment. We tried to book accommodation but they were full so we stayed locally and visited the excellent bar facilities and first class restaurant during one evening. The menu was varied with some interesting twists if you felt so inclined, the service was superb and more than efficient in both the lovely bar and restaurant area.... More

Visiting the Watercress line for their WW2 War on the Line event and decided to stay over. The hotel is very well situated only about 200 m from the station. It is an old Georgian inn and so floors upstairs are a bit creaky and uneven, but that adds to the charm. The bed was very comfortable and the ensuite... More

We stayed for 1 night in room 7. Nice room with comfortable bed.Tea and coffee making things in room and a nice big flat screen TV that we watched the F1 Malaysian Grand Prix on in the morning before and after a superb breakfast. The bar is a good place for a drink and nice friendly staff. We didn't have... More

Booked for a night away. Good food, excellent range of beers, friendly staff but there was NO hot water! Tried to have a shower in the evening and again at 8 o'clock the following morning and the water was icy cold.

Had a super lunch here today with a friend. The choice of beers was excellent with both Japanese and Dutch bers available on tap as well as local brews. Our first course was an excellent curried parsnip soup which was delicious followed by a very tasty steak and kidney pie. Service was good and the pub was very cosy on... More

We met friends here a few Sundays ago and had a wonderful Sunday lunch. The atmosphere was very welcoming, warm and friendly. A cosy country pub on the High Street! The food was excellent and cooked and presented to a very high standard. The staff were fun, friendly and professional. All in all, a very good experience and we shall... More

Visited the pretty town of Alresford in Hampshire last Friday and we had a very enjoyable meal in The Bell Inn. They were advertising two courses for just £10. The prawn cocktail, sea-bass and the venison burger were all very tasty and whilst the portions are on the small size – the quantity was more than adequate for a luncheon.... More
