The restaurant is quite pleasant and the food is good quality but not cheap and very expensive relative to the portion size. The service we experienced was efficient but unwelcoming and extremely brusque and for these reasons would not return

Absolutely fabulous little town called Alresford, lots of lovely independent retailers. On arriving this pub had a busy little feel to it; only on road parking which wasn't really suitable for overnight stay but a very reasonably priced Car Park just a short walk away at the Watercress Line. As we opened the door to this lovely old Inn we... More

My room (No 7) was a nice size room with double bed, TV, tea & coffee making & hairdryer. The wifi was good until it got busier later on in the evening then it kept dropping out sadly. The bathroom was of a large size with a shower cubicle. The bathroom was lovely & warm. For dinner there was a... More

ROOM: The room was dated but not in a good or charming way, there was a mirror above our bed which was hanging precariously above our heads being push on by the headboard, yes its an old fashioned pub, but the bathroom needed upgrading, you can still have the charm of an old building but the room amenities need to... Earlier this year, as members of the Bryn Terfel Club we were offered tickets to the dress rehearsal of Fiddler on the Roof at the Grange Opera in Old Alresford near Winchester. Because the price of the tickets was only £10.00, we just could not refuse the offer. I hurriedly went on-line to search for accommodation for two nights, and... More

We booked the Bell for Sunday Lunch as we just wanted a day out in Alresford to potter. The whole pub is lovely inside, cosy, elegant and comfy. We shared a starter of salted cod Brandade which was wonderful, and then both had the Sea Bass which was beautifully cooked and flavoured. We were too full for pudding! The food... More

Excellent base just a couple of minutes walk from Alresford railway station and the Mid Hants Railway. The location could not have been better for the Autumn Steam Gala, free parking and well placed for the town and riverside walks in the beautiful town of Alresford. The food on offer was very good, superb breakfasts and great dinner menus and... More

Stayed recently for two nights while visiting the area. Very friendly service, comfortable bed and clean rooms, and the food was outstanding (lovely cooked breakfast each morning and we had dinner there on both nights; the pork belly was especially good). Highly recommended.

My wife recently hosted her Birthday Party at the Bell where we are regular customers. The food was superb and the whole event went like a dream thanks to Jules and his staff. Anyone reading this who is not a local please come and stay/eat at the Bell you will not regret it.

The Bell provides a comfortable friendly destination. It meets my expectations of comfortable, not cramped, accommodation, a town centre bar with an excellent restaurant Various stuffed heads of animals are in the bar, which makes extensive use of locally-grown hops as decoration. Quite why a moose's head has pride of place escapes me; perhaps a later reviewer will shed light.... More
