After many years of travelling, my husband and have to say honestly that this is one of the most wonderful pub/inns I've ever had the pleasure to visit. We stayed overnight 'on spec' whilst on a road trip and were absolutely delighted. I found the Landlord to be naturally quite reserved to the point of shyness but very friendly, attentive,... More

Strange place, odd manager / owner / front of house / older gent, answers the phone with just a "hello" and no mention of the establishment. Just a little strange, kept asking if we were ok and suggesting we left a 10% tip, stood over us whilst we paid. Poor expensive menu, ok if you wanted deep fried food or... More

we stayed here for one night 26th June. The hotel is relaxed and informal in style, which we prefer, but at the same time stylish and quirky. The bedrooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean, the beds lovely! The food was really good and we liked the fact you could sit anywhere you liked ie bar, restaurant, conservatory area or in our case the... More

A return visit. we first stayed last summer and the inn was outstanding ....based on the quality of the evening meal on our one night stay. Our second visit on a may evening the meal just lacked that supreme sparkle good enough ....but....the accommodation and breakfast however as expected first class

Just returned from The Inn at Grinshill where we stayed overnight with some friends. From the moment we stepped in we were met by the very friendly owners who went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Lunch, Dinner and breakfast was cooked to perfection with everything home made including the wonderful marmalade.!! Bedrooms are... More

We have just returned home from 'The Inn' having spent the night there along with two friends. From the time we arrived the staff were friendly and efficient and made us feel very welcome. Having enjoyed a delicious lunch, we were shown to our rooms which were spotlessly clean and comfortable…lovely white bed linen and towels. Our evening meal was... More

Rude, uninterested and appalling customer service all round. Food OK. This was the first and last visit. It was supposed to be a celebration for my birthday. Booking was rude, no one answered our email enquiry. We were booked at 8.15 and were seated and got food at 9.15! We sat in the bar before being taken to our table.... More

Chris's food is simply amazing. Get here to sample it before it becomes 2-3 times more expensive! We sat at table 1, just by the kitchen hatch and were fascinated to watch each dish being finished with such skill. Chris was also really happy to chat about the food and his inspiration. The sea bream was simply amazing and I... More

Very friendly and efficient staff. The owners are welcoming if a little eccentric(in a good way) and attentive. The rooms have just the right amount of character, are large enough and spotlessly clean. As mentioned by other reviewers the food is superb.Well presented without being too fussy, very good ingredients cooked to almost perfection.Tremendous value for the price.Reason alone for another visit.

We first visited here a couple of years ago and were suprised that the owners recoginised us on our return visit on the 14th December 2013 with my wifes parents. We had such a good experience on our first visit, we were hoping we would not be disappointed ..... We were not! The food was beautiful, the service was polite,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Formerly a coaching Inn, our establishment today is an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary décor. Its transformation began in 2001 when we bought it and over 18 months we set about a dramatic rebuild and restoration. Although many thought us foolhardy and overly ambitious, today, even much changed, the Inn evokes a sense of its own history. Above all else, we and our team work to ensure our guests enjoy the very best in hospitality. The Inn is a Grade 2 listed Georgian property, in a conservation area, located in the lee of Grinshill which is a site of special scientific interest and an area of outstanding natural beauty. There is a little train station in the next village which is a short stroll away, adding to the charm of this rural retreat. ... more   less
