It came as a rude awakening, but there are definitely two parts to this hotel; one staffed by Mexicans and the other primarily by expat gringos. On the plus side are the Mexicans with absolutely fantastic front desk, bar, & restaurant staff . Looking at some reviews, I think people are ridiculous to say such bad things... I have experienced this with many resorts... Looking at how people rate this one they act as if there is poop on the walls or something really horrendous.
