In March this year I stayed at the Posada La Mariquinta, in Jalapa, Veracruz; an enchanting place that offers to the traveler a great range of rooms, suites, mini-suites and mini-apartments (Estancias). I love the fact that the prices have a sliding scale down and the more you stay, the less you pay. I enjoyed its excellent location a few... more

I've been staying at Posada La Mariquinta for years. Every time I go to my hometown, I stay there. Jean-Luc and his staff are excellent hosts, the place is very well located, the rooms at the back are quiet, like I like. The inn is downtown within walking distance of the cultural center, great restaurants, parks, important sites. The prices... more

We found the Mariquinta a good refuge from the traffic and noise of the city. Xalapa's motorists seem particularly fond of using their horns. The location of the posada is good; just a few blocks from key sites of interest to the visitor. A couple of cautions: If you're paying in cash (worth a 10% discount on your bill), make... more

We stayed in La Posada for 7 days while attending a conference at a nearby more expensive hotel. We were very satisfied and would stay again but could see some problems for other guests with different needs. 1) From the center of town one has to ascend several blocks on an extremely steep street. The mini-suite we were given was... more

The gardens and artwork make this a delightful retreat. It is extremely clean and well-kept. There is a discount for multiple nights, a deposit is required with the reservation, and the balance due upon arrival (cash only). Very helpful staff who respect the privacy of the guests. more

We recently stayed at La Mariquinta and from the reviews we expected great hospitality. Unfortunately the owner did not receive us and his staff was not very helpful or welcoming. Although the room was comfortable, except for a full-size bed that was small for both of us, the parking is very complicated and a hassle. The hotel itself is in... more

Xalapa is a bustling medium-sized university town in Veracruz state which is well worth a visit, especially if you are traveling from Mexico City or Puebla (another very worthwhile destination!) toward Veracruz City and the gulf coast. The Posada La Mariquinta is a superbly well run and reasonably priced (about $65 US for a small suite) place to stay on... more

My daughter, son-in-law, a family friend, and I recently spent 4 nights at La Mariquinta in October 2007. This was my fifth visit to Xalapa but my first time staying at La Mariquinata. I chose it this time because we would be celebrating my daughter's birthday and my daughter and son-in-law's wedding anniversary during our stay and I wanted the... more

We can't say enough about the La Mariquinta in Xalapa. Our room was huge and beautiful with new refrigerator and kitchenette and a new very nice bathroom. Our room opened into a common area with couch, coffee table, dining table, and coffee maker and microwave. This room opened into a totally private courtyard with beautiful landscaping. The main area opens... more
