It maybe only be a one star Albergo but the owners hospitality and thoughtfulness more than made up for any quirkiness. Our room was large, clean and had a recently renovated bathroom. The breakfast spread was one of the best we had on the trip. There is a good restaurant immediately across the road.

I stayed here for just one night. The hotel staff was very welcoming and friendly. There is a small lounge/library area in front with interesting books and brochures for area tours & activities. The guest room I stayed in was a bit outdated and in need of a renovation, but it was comfortable and a good value for the price.... More

Pleasant Albergo. Clean. Quirky - old radios and clocks doted around reception area. Bedroom and bathroom were of a good size but perhaps a little dated. But good strong shower. TV did not appear to have channels other than Italian. Decent breakfast. Bed was very firm (hard). Perhaps a little overpriced for somewhere so quiet.

We stayed here as part of the Experienceplus bike tour. Friendly, welcoming staff, free wifi and A/C that works. The breakfast was fine and a great way to start your day. The village of Sabbioneta is a UNESCO heritage site with several medieval attractions. Loved our stay here and it is in a great location to visit other places nearby.... More

We stayed there for one night on a very cold evening in March and it was warm and cosy in our room. As experienced in other Hotels, the heating was not switched off after 10 p.m. We liked the house very much, the warm welcome through the owner ( our dog includet), the library and the nice breakfast room. We... More

Small, friendly and full of character sum up this guest house. There's nothing fancy about it and the beds sag and the towels are stiff BUT its full of character, its warm and it feels good. The town is worth a visit for the day and some nice restaurants in town.

Overall the stay here was without any major disappointment, but some elements of it seemed not good enough considering the price for the small quiet town. Drains were stinky, but that's probably a problem in the town, not the hotels fault. Blankets on the bed could do with being a bit fresher and the towels were not the freshest (a... More

Thank you for your review. We regret not having met your expectations. Water is a big problem that we have repeatedly pointed out, but, not having the aqueduct that softens, has an unpleasant odor which depends on the high concentration of iron. Therefore, everyone has this particular smell. We will work to improve the deficiencies reported by you, including breakfast.... More

The perfect place to stay the night on a cycling holiday, small but tastefully decorated and full of character. Small touches like local specialities for breakfast and bottles of water left for guests in the evening.lots of guide books and books to read in the lobby. excellent service and a nice base to stay when visiting sabbioneta. Do not worry... More

In my one month voyage in Italy in September-October 2011, I have stayed in many hotels, and out of those, Giulia Gonzaga made as deep a great impression on me as Grand Des Iles Borromees in Stresa, Lago Maggiore, but for different reasons, since the former was presumably a one-star inn while the latter a five-star hotel. The reasons I... More
