Just got back from our trip to Kookoo's nest and I can't say enough about how much I love this place. I stayed with my wife and 4 other friends at the Driftwood cottage (two storeys). The whole resort is a hidden gem, very laid back in a perfect setting. I was amazed that much of the food that was... More

We came as part of our honeymoon, unfortunately we had bad weather (check before!) so we couldn't make the most of it - but the stunning all-bamboo construction, located on the beach is a winner indeed.

We stayed at Kookoo's Nest for a total of 14 nights (11 in Jan. and 3 in March). The hosts, Nikki and Jamie have made this place our favorite after 3 months in the Philippines with the friendly service and advice. They responded quickly to our calls and emails to arrange our stays. The meals are fantastic and the diving... More

We stayed at Kookoo's Nest 4 years ago and always wanted to return. In January we did and had no regrets at all. It was great to see Nikki and Jamie again and the things we had loved before were still the same. Kookoo's is a very special place and the setting is spectacular. When we had booked, there was... We have the habit to always read the reviews here on TripAdvisor before we decide where we should stay. In general, we feel "at home" with the ratings fellow travelers have given the places we stayed at. Kookos Nest is an exception. We fully understand that the vast majority give five stars. We have an equal understanding that others just put... More

Fly into Dumaguete airport, get met by a lovely taxi driver who journeys you along the main road, through the crazy traffic, turning off the main road with 11km to go the road is off track in parts but mostly it's pretty smooth. Arrive at Kookoos Nest to then descend the 107.5 big steps.. Landing safely in the restaurant reception... More

Rural, natural.....back to nature. Rough track followed by 107 steps (for giants ;) down to the beach and the traditionally built bamboo cottages. If you are used to proper windows & doors, air conditioning and a pool you may find this to be a little different ! The fresh cold water showers and the open air accommodation can take a... More

Once you turn off the main road it is 11k to the headland above the beach; the last 10 are rough track. You then have (according to the sign) 107.5 steps to go.- hence it is remote. The journey is through farm and scrub areas - hence it is rural. The accommodation is bamboo, as is the furniture and about... More

Beautiful oasis of bamboo-cottages directly beachfront with more than enough space. Due to sickness,we only stayed short, but would have loved to stay longer. Whole resort is very well maintained and you have only nature around you. Cottages are clean. In the morning, you wake up with the birds and waves and the cry of a gecko. Food was 100%... More

Five of us stayed over Christmas in the Toko and Hibiscus cottages. These are beautifully appointed with superb views over the beach and out to sea. This is like being on a sandy desert island with clear blue bathing water but with all services on hand including excellent food and drink- speciality being pre dinner Margaritas! Jamie and Nikki are enthusiastic... More
