Our excellent tour guide Skippo picked us up for the about 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive to Durango. We travelled the new road passing through 62 tunnels and over the 1,321 foot high Baluarte bridge the worlds highest, and it is 4,101 feet long. An amazing feat linking Matzatlan and Durango and cutting travel time by half. We saw... More

Most of the historic attractions are within easy walking distance of the center of town and the Hostal de la Monja is right at the heart of town. It is located on the pedestrian only promenade (Calle Constitucion) across the street from the cathedral and less than half a block from the main square. |(Plaza de las Armas). But beyond... More

This hotel is in a beautiful colonial building but it has modern amenities including coffee in the room. It is located in the historic center of Durango Mexico on a pedestrian thoroughfare across from the cathedral. It is a few steps away from the Plaza de Armas which is the tourist center of the city. There are city tours and... More

This hotel came highly recommended and we were excited to be staying in such a wonderful location on Constitucion, a lovely street for walking and people gazing. Our garmin sent us around the city about four times because we couldn't park in front of hotel.....note to garmin and hotel....add parking site directions. Finally parked and walked to the hotel. Positive... More

Hostel Monja is in a great location and is a nice hotel. Our room overlooking the cathedral was very nice, the bed was perfect and the room very clean. The hotel is very old but completely restored and well maintained. The staff were all very friendly and over the top helpful.

We were wary after reading the other reviews, but ended up loving this hotel. It is a former convent and is beautiful inside. We stayed in Feb. 2015 in a second floor room, which had enormously high ceilings. The breakfast is included in the price and was good. The location of the hotel is perfect: across the street from the... More

Stayed here for 3 nights over the New Years. Great location. Great staff. Beautiful hotel.Convenient parking for free. Everything we did was in easy walking distance. I thought the rooms were over priced and lacked charm. They were very clean but not one piece of art on the walls. Very sterile and not inviting.
