We stayed for two nights during August 2014 and had a wonderful time. The hosts were friendly and they managed everything professionally. The rooms are located a few yards from the main building and are (i) lovely and quiet, (ii) very clean (iii) more spacious than the average B&B with modern bathroom facilities. We were very pleased, although the under-40s... More

The way we were treated from the moment we arrived until we left was fantastic, Elizabeth and David were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much for them. The food was great, full breakfast sets you up for the day and you could get an evening meal too if you wanted, again cooked to perfection. The quiet location was... More

We stayed at The Head at Middleton for four nights to initially visit the Lakes, but the weather was not too kind for us. Arriving on a wet Sunday afternoon we were welcomed by Elizabeth who quickly showed us to our accommodation. All of which are in a separate building behind the actual inn. We had self catering accommodation with... More

We were a group of friends staying here whilst completing The Yorkshire Three Peaks hill walk. During the whole of our stay, the staff were always willing to go that extra mile....NOTHING at all was too much trouble!!! A definite ten out of ten for customer service!!! :)

Just spent two nights whilst off roading in the area. Absolutely delightful stay - we were made to feel so welcome and special. Loved everything about The Head. Elizabeth and her staff were extremely friendly and kind to us. Our room was spotless and very comfortable and we would recommend this place to everyone for a taste of Yorkshire hospitality!... More

David's homemade chips are legend! Lovely honest grub, traditionally presented, in cared-for premises, very quiet and homely, and Elizabeth and David are lovely and very kind. Steak and kidney pie has a lot of flavour and you get a lot of prawns in your prawn cocktail starter.

We have just spent a lovely 3 nights at The Head with our dog Lucy. Elizabeth and David were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. It is only a short drive from the lovely village, Kirkby Lonsdale which was very dog friendly with lovely river walks. We will return

Stayed for one night on a very wet and cold night, the atmosphere along with the good food friendly service and great beer definitely made it a very enjoyable stay and I would use again. Our dog Dillon was also made very welcome, great place to stay

Thank you for your kind review. The weather here has now improved - the sun has been shining and the lambs are starting to appear. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future and perhaps we can entice you to stay longer - don't forget to ask for our special three night stay rates. Give Dillon a... More

I stayed at The Head for two nights this weekend, and held my wedding party here a couple of years ago. The Head provides perfect relaxation in what seems like the middle of nowhere, but is surprisingly easy to reach by a 20 minute taxi ride from the Oxenholme west coast mainline station. I’m a regular visitor when I can... More

This pub used to by my local, with excellent beer and a lovely garden to sit in. I took my brother out for lunch recently and we were absolutely shocked at how it had changed over the last few years. The beer garden we loved so much, we were rudely told was 'just for residents' so we sat in the... More

Saddened to read this review from a so called "local" person. Our back garden has been for our residents for over 7 years now and the terrace was created to accommodate our other customers who wanted to dine alfresco or stay outside for a drink. The "weeds" on the terrace in September were the naturally seeded aqualeiga, alchemilla and other... More
