We were out looking for somewhere that served food all day and passed by The Stanley Arms whilst driving around looking. Decided to turn back and try it. The decor was bright and fresh, fairly quiet when we went in. Friendly staff with quick service. Food was just what we needed - well presented and plenty of it.

We were greeted by amazing staff who couldn't do enough for us. The owners were relatively new so am sure that they will keep improving the hotel!! They made us feel so welcomed and the food was lovely. Would definitely return!!

Very lovely outdoor setting, unfortunate lack of ambience within hotel, seeming generally lacking in the lovely lake district ambience. Rooms lacking taste and lack of personality. nice day out for tea in the garden however not much else.

We stayed overnight, during a cycle challenge! Made to feel very welcome & nothing was too much trouble for Mel & Clive. Lovely comfy bed & clean room. Delicious evening meal, served promptly & very fresh! Nice atmosphere in the bar. We would certainly stay there again. Very friendly, welcoming people.

We visited the restaurant (didn't stay at the hotel) and thought service was ok, the food was good enough, although we had to wait 25 minutes before we were told that there was only one piece of fish left and had to re-order one of our meals. Some interesting choices of music ........... I think this evening was the definitive... More

I have been working in West Cumbria for over 6 months as a contractor and I have stayed in the Stanley Arms for 4 nights a week almost every week. Since the moment I arrived I was made very welcome and the staff could not do enough to make sure I was perfectly happy. Everyone at the Stanley was exceptional... More

Stayed here due to work, rooms need refurbishing, feel dirty! Would only stop here again if nowhere else was available! Curtains did not even fit the windows properly. Could hear traffic noise really bad from bedroom! Food wasn't great either.

I was offered a job interview in Cumbria on 22nd October so booked an overnight at the Stanley Arms. I think once you find this place you'll always want to come back. We came with the dogs earlier in the year and our first call if we need a place to stay on the West Lakeland fringe is now 'The... More

We stayed for a week early Sept.2012, and were made very welcome. Pleanty of space in our room, and the "King size " bed was really comfortable. The hotel was very clean and although there is still work going on ( apprently the new owners had taken over in March '12) you wouldn't think so. Quite a comprehensive menue, to... More
