We drove passed here several times while staying in the area and liked the look of it more than those in Gosforth which was closer. We didn't stay here but dropped in a couple of times as we liked it. The food was cooked really well and I can highly recommend the lamb and baked cheesecake. Lovely beer garden and... More

Called in for a quick pint. Had a fantastic pint of Wainwright Ale, well presented. lovely golden ale. The manager said it was their best cask and Thwaites biggest cask brand. Will call back for another when next passing through. A must re visit for the Christmas Ale coming soon.

We stayed here for two nights in August for a family wedding. We chose the hotel for convenience as it is within walking distance of both Church and reception venue. I know this area well, and so my expectations were quite realistic, or perhaps low! From the moment we arrived and checked in, the welcome, service and hospitality received from... More

We were just on a day out to the Lake District and were really hungry and looking for a place to stop. All of a sudden we found this... We didn't stay in the hotel, but we had dinner. The food was excellent and of a good quality. Would definitely recommend it ;)

Dropped by for a drink as it was a warm sunny evening and the beer garden looked great. It was indeed lovely sat by the river in the sun. We decided to stay for some food as the staff were really friendly and the menu looked nice. It is not a huge menu choice but I tend to find big... More

Recently stayed at the Stanley arms and was very disappointed with the overall condition of the hotel. Staff were friendly enough but the condition of the accommodation was not satisfactory. Viewed a few rooms and all were of the same. Bathroom decoration in particular was of a low standard in all of them from pipework to dirty Tile grout. Every... More

I highly recommend this B & B hotel for your visit to the Lake District. Centrally located for most of the attractions, clean rooms, excellent food and the owners Clive and Mel are friendly and helpful. When we arrived, Dorothy one of the staff members showed me a renovated room that was beautifully decorated and well appointed. The cost was good... More

This place is in a fantastic location popped in for drinks after a great walk along the river running next to the Stanley. Beer garden is perfect for relaxing soaking up the sun with a cool beer. Will be returning on next visit to Cumbria.

Booked on the internet. Arrived late and warned them that we were going to do so. Shown to our room by the friendly and helpful bar staff. We appeared to be the only hotel guests, which made the room all the more inexplicable. Carpet brown for a good foot with filth by the door. Bathroom had oodles of trailing cobwebs,... More
