if you're going to Iceland and want comfort, fantastic food, great service and a gorgeous location, this is the hotel to stay at. It's about 3 hours drive from Reykjavik on Western Iceland, near Snaefellsjokull glacier, set in an ancient field of lava right on the coast. There are marvellous, invigorating walks from the door - we walked a couple... More

Breakfast is very Nordic so don't expect bacon and eggs, however, there is plenty of fish, breads and cereals as well as fruit and salads. Evening meals are wonderful. The hotel itself is easy to find - Get to the middle of no where and there it is. The lounge area is nice to curl up on the sofas under... More

The greatest little gem of a hotel. We found it with its little black church about three years ago and then returned a year ago to get married there. Finally we mention it on here, suffice to say, food local and amazing, no messing, food is fantastic. Service is personal non invasive and fantastic, and the hotel is gorgeous with... More

I got married at the little black chapel on the property of Budir. My 30 guests stayed at the hotel and I had my rehearsal dinner and reception there as well. Everyone had the most unique incredible time. The food, the scenery, the accommodations. It was a dream.

What a wonderful change to find a hotel with staff that actually care about their guests. A trek and then some to reach in winter on ice covered roads, it's a long drive from Reykjavik but the drive through the Icelandic scenery was stunning. Johannes and his team were very friendly and made us feel very welcome, and nothing was... More

Stayed here 3 nights - what an incredible place to watch the storms roll in. Fabulous location and awesome views. Very comfortable and great food. We got on very well with the male staff (fantastic team). They really can't do enough for you and we loved their dry sense of humour! Yes, it's expensive, but so is all of Iceland.... More

My mother and I had a great time at Hotel Budir - in between snowstorms and sunny spells, the landscape was absolutely breathtaking. There isn't much to do around, but simply walking around and gazing at the jaw-dropping landscape, and taking the car to drive along the coast are both very rewarding activities. Definitely have a 4x4 for peace of... More

Because not all reviews were positive we were bit hesitant to book Budir. But we have nothing but positive experiences! Couple of the reviews mentioned that the staff were not friendly. Not true! They are like a lot of icelandic people direct and to the point. But they give very good service, everything is possible and they want to help... More

This was our last stop on our trip. We stayed for 2 nights and drove from the hotel to Keflavik airport in approx 3 hours. The hotel setting is fabulous with excellent views in all directions. We recommend a walk along the beautiful beach. The rooms are fairly large and well appointed. Unfortunately our TV could only show 2 channels... More

Hotel budir was our second hotel on our iceland adventure, we had such a lovely stay at our last hotel we did not know if budir could compete but it was even better. We were very late on the day of our arrival (due to the ever changing Icelandic weather), we phoned ahead and they were lovely and even reserved... More
