The Hotel Budir was a brilliant find for us and a perfect remote getaway location. The building has fantastic views all around and it is a very short walk to the lava beach. If you are into birds you'll love it as the estuary and the cliffs close by make it a twitchers paradise. The food is also excellent. There... More

After a few stops in pricey, remote (and therefore slightly shabby) places, this place was delightful. A nice fire on in the lounge on arrival. Friendly staff who carried our heavy suitcases up to the room (small mercy, but appreciated) The views all around the hotel and its location are perfection itself. Sit in the lounge downstairs or upstairs, in... More

This hotel seems like it is in the middle of the proverbial "nowhere", situated out on its own on a type of Peninsula. Arrived here after a 3 hour drive from Reykjavik and slight detour to Pingvellir. There is a toll tunnel on the way,if you are driving, which will cost 1000 ISK (about £6) each way for the fastest... The hotel is situated in a great spot but very isolated. Arrived around 5pm after a full day touring. For the standard of hotel I would have expected more of a welcome, perhaps help with luggage, offer of a cup of tea? No tea/coffee in rooms. Rooms 28 & 23 were good but as a family we found it overpriced.... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights for a wedding and although it seemed as though we would never arrive (it is about three and a half hours from the airport) it was really worth the wait. Super friendly and helpful manager and staff, great breakfast buffet and the chef and staff create really lovely food. I would say... More

My Hubs and I stayed here for one night on a tour of Iceland. I could not believe how beautiful the setting was and even though the hotel looks boring from the outside it is very nicely decorated and well appointed inside. All of the staff we encountered were very nice and helpful, especially the receptionist with the long curly... More

Lovely hotel in the right position, peaceful, views from all rooms to the mountains or sea. Seals coming and going and even a Minke whale sighting. Alcohol very expensive, meals very good, breakfasts very good, staff alittle muted perhaps the owners were on holiday.

When we booked Hotel Budir, it was mainly because of all the good reviews here on Tripadvisor. And it really is a lovely little place! We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children, 8 and 10 years old. The bed is a King size, so we could sleep 3 in that bed, and our 10-year old slept in... More

This hotel has one of the most beautiful views in one of the most remote locations in the world. The exterior of the hotel and the public spaces are beautifully decorated. These communal rooms were comfortable places to read and some had views. I can't speak of any bedrooms but my own, on the third floor (attic?), which had a... More

We stayed here for four nights at the end of a self drive trip in Iceland. Although longer than I think most people stayed, we were very happy we did. The Hotel is superb and on a fantastic location with nothing else nearby. Great views of the sea, the mountains and nearby waterfalls. We stayed in the Deluxe rooms which... More

Hotel Budir is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful countryside hotels in Iceland, just a short drive from Iceland’s capital city, Reykjavik. The hotel sits in a lava field on the westernmost tip of the Snaefellsnes peninsula, in the western region of Iceland.Due to the hotel’s location, guests have an impressive view of the breathtaking Snaefellsjokull glacier and the Budir-estuary which meanders into the vast Faxafloi-Bay where a number of seals reside.Over the winter time its cozy sitting by the fireplace having hot chocolate and enjoying the amazing northern lights Aurora borealis just outside the hotel.Hotel Budir’s restaurant, arguably one of the most romantic restaurants in Iceland, has been referred to as "The Mecca of Icelandic cooking", due to its unique and delightful cuisine. The restaurant’s menu is seasonal and takes advantage of fresh local produce like seafood and fish from neighbouring villages such as Stykkisholmur, Olafsvik and Borgarnes. The hotel also organises and hosts a number of weddings, all of which are unique and tailor made with the wedding couple or their representatives. Many of the weddings ceremonies are conducted in the little church close to Hotel Budir or in the hotel reception; it is even possible to get married on the golden sand beach close to the hotel. In addition, the hotel also offers facilities for meetings and small-to-medium sized conferences thus making it ideal for business-meetings or conferences with colleagues.Hotel Budir has it all, a world-class service, fine food and drink and luxurious rooms, making it ideal for get-togethers with friends and family, or a romantic weekend with a loved one – all of which can be enjoyed in an indescribably beautiful environment. ... more   less
