This hotel has by far been the highlight of our trip last year. It is secluded on the snaeflllesnes peninsula overlooking the water and surrounded by mountains. Our room had a view of the frozen volcano and of the sea. The sunrise at this hotel is something that my family and i will never forget. Food for breakfast is also... More

This is definitely a 5 star hotel. It is a little off the beaten path, but even in the winter rain, it was beautiful. The building is unique, in tune with the surroundings and the common areas are wonderful. But the restaurant is definitely the best part of the hotel. I had the most amazing cod and I'm not even... We stayed here one night in september. We travelled around the island so this hotel was a great choice for a stop. We arrived late but the staff was very friendly and showed us 2 different rooms to choose. The rooms have a unique antique style and were very clean. The Lobby and reception looks great and invites you to... More

Excellent hotel, friendly staff, dinner in restaurant fantastic, meal specially prepared for one member of our family who is vegetarian and for my two granddaughters (aged 7and 9). Breakfast fine, hot chocolate delicious by the roaring wood burner. Northern lights wake up call. Because of the location viewing the Lights is awesome. Surrounding area stunning with mountains and the sea. We... More

We stayed for one night at Hotel Budir, and had a marvelous time. The staff (and dog) were very friendly and attentive. Our room (number 17, on the corner) was well appointed with a comfortable bed and nice clean bathroom. The restaurant served a fantastic dinner (fresh catch) and we saw the Northern Lights as well. The location is stark... More

The photos and website don't do justice to this wonderful little hotel. It sits in the most idililic location with the sea lapping almost to the door. Seals played on the tide, birds floated by, the waves crashed on the shore and the northern lights glowed in the sky. The owner was friendly and willingly advised on where to visit,... More

4 nights at this hotel out on the Snaefellsnes (?) peninsula - some 3 hours from Kevlavik airport on the south west. Stunning scenery and the hotel is on the water's edge in the middle of nowhere. The only other building is a tiny chapel 50 yards up the road, built in 1847. The hotel's website doesn't do the place... More

Amazing location! Delicious dinner and friendly staff. When you travel in this region you should stay here at least for 1 night. Northern lights wake-up call possible. A walk through the nearby lava field is an absolutely must!! Only minus : breakfast could be a little bit better. Breakfast was good, but there's not much choice.

We traveled to Iceland in early February and stayed here for two glorious nights. We arrived early and were given a choice of two rooms. We were given the advice that the room on the second floor would have the better view so that is what we took. It was great advice as we overlooked the sea and the mountains.... More

Arriving there was not easy at all, driving in icy, tremendously slippery roads...But the incredible beauty of the sorroundings and the solid, heartwarming comfort and kindness of the hotel, made it all worth the while. It's decades of welcoming cleanliness, silence and discrete elegance in a homely way. We loved it, in our tiny loft room with a view... And... More
