Although lodging in Iceland can be pricey and sparse in certain areas, Hotel Budir is among the priciest we saw and was by far the priciest we stayed in. We are comfortable in most any type of accommodation, so we did not have a need for a luxury property, but chose Hotel Budir for 1 night because it was conveniently... More

This charming hotel is located in a spectacular setting, with views of the glacier, lava fields, the ocean and the mountains, not to mention grazing sheep. You can hike right from the door. The restaurant is great too!

We spent 1 night at Hotel Budir during our wonderful tour around Iceland. Our time on the Snaefellsnes Pennisula was sadly shrouded in torrential downpours - we couldn't really see any of the scenery I think Hotel Budir is so famous for. However, it did create almost a positively Gothic like setting that I quite enjoyed - if I had... More

We have stayed in a lot of unique hotels and this may be the best one yet. From the amazing surroundings (lava fields, waterfalls, glacier) to a warm, welcoming environment filled with inviting sitting areas to top quality cuisine...this hotel is amazing!

We stayed at the Budir Hotel at the end of a week's tour around Iceland. The hotel somehow summarized our stay in Iceland. Some of the scenery we encountered was downright surreal, and so was the hotel in its own way, located on the sea with really no other building in view except a back-painted church. The locale reminded me... More

What a wonderful hotel! It was our favorite of a 2 week stay in Iceland. There were cozy reading rooms and a glassed in room overlooking the ocean off the bar. The service was wonderful and the food was great. It overlooks a waterfall on the other side. There are cliff walks nearby to watch the ocean birds in the... More

Stunning location and great part of Iceland. Cute building that is well suited to vernacular. Perfect base from which to explore Western Iceland, take hikes etc. Nice staff. Restaurant very good and nice aesthetic, though breakfast a bit limited. Given the endowment the Nordic region has in design, much more could be done with the guest rooms and bathrooms to... More

We have just spent 4 days at Hotel Budir and had a wonderful stay. The atmosphere is unique, the food first class, the staff is great! You really get the little extra here. The rooms are stylish and delicate. Well, it is a drive from Reykjavik but it is worth the ride. We visited the hotel 6 years ago and... More

The location is amazing - right by the sea, with a backdrop of mountains (we could see 7 waterfalls from our bedroom!) and next to a fascinating lava field. The public spaces and rooms are cosy, with antique furniture and lots of old photos and some framed costumes. The dining room is homely, with embroidered tablecloths and old china, and... More

Arriving here one dark November night we didn't get the sense of the amazing location until the next morning (when it eventually got light). Beautiful to be right by the sea and great views from the hotel. The hotel itself is well appointed and the communal areas very cosy. Our room was slightly disappointing...under the eaves, it had a bath... More
