We booked 2 nights here to sample something away from the tourist traps of Gambia. Fodde met us and transferred us to the boat. The boat was well stocked with everything we needed plus 2 staff to go with us. He informed us we were his only guests and that the 2girls would cook for us etc... The boat trip... More

Spent four nights here and wished it had been two at the most. We have no problem with wild and basic, but draw the line at squalor. The whole site is totally run down, unkempt and uncared for. There are WCs flushed with water from a strategically located bucket. There are no bush showers -- the sea is the best option for washing. If you consider this a deprivation, you should... More

We stayed at Madiyana Safari Lodge towards the end of a five week holiday organised by a very efficient small organisation called Hidden Gambia. info@hiddengambia.com Our main destination was the excellent Bird Safari Camp near Janjanbureh. From here we were driven to the coast along the well surfaced north road by mini-bus and then tranfered into an open topped jeep... More
