This was my second time in Mexico and it was for a wedding. The resort was actually amazing and so big. The pool was huge and never had that many people in it at one time which made it great to swim around wherever you'd like without hitting anyone by accident. The beach was magnificent, clear all the way through... More

We stayed at the Barcelo Maya Palace May 16-23, 2012. We have stayed in the Tropical resort next door a few years ago, so knew what to expect. Positives: +Fast Check in, and resturant booking +Rooms +Friendliness towards kids from the staff +Lush grounds +Great beach +Kids water park Negatives: -Minimal cleaning of the kids water park -Minimal activities available... This place is unreal and I will never stay at another hotel in the Mayan ever again! Beautiful Resort, the people are extremely friendly and helpful. Im not sure which resort some of these people stayed at. but we were in the oaxaca building at the far end from the lobby and I could walk anywhere within 10 minutes and... More

We travelled from April 17 to 24, family of four w/ two teenagers. What a great time we had at this beautiful and LARGE resort. The size didn't bother us, as that comment was made for others, especially families with small kids or elderly. Be prepared to walk a lot here. Here are the pro and cons: Pros: - the... More

I took my daughter (10 years old) to the Palace on May 12-19, 2012. I was my first trip to Mexico and I couldn't have been more pleased. We booked our private transfers to the hotel through Lomas travel. The van was nothing special and I was a little disappointed that they had huge advertisements over the windows so we... More

I loved this resort! It is absolutely beautiful and we had the best time there, we were so sad to go home, but I am so happy I just booked another trip there for this December 2012, can’t wait to get back. For anyone complaining about rude staff, I didn't come across one staff member who did not smile or... More

I've visited Riviera Maya once before, and I thought the resort I stayed in then was fabulous (Catalonia Playa Maroma), but the Barcelo Maya Palace was even better! First, I should say that we weren't originally booked into the Palace - we were booked into the Tropical, but we were informed when we arrived (for reasons that weren't exactly clear)... More

We have just returned from a wedding in this hotel complex. The hotel certainly lived up to it's name - it was definately 5 star de-luxe. The rooms were large with two queen bed & lounge area and balcony. Large ensuite with double showers. The sheets & towels were changed daily. The mini-bar in the room was stocked free of... More

This resort is beautiful. The grounds are meticulously kept. The rooms are large and spacious. Really no privacy when taking a shower, hope you are with someone that it doesn't matter. Refridgerator was stocked daily with beer, sodas, juices, and snacks if used, which was included as part of the all inclusive. Only real negative about the room was that... More

The title describes the front desk staff specifically but it follows through with the rest of the resort. I booked a family suite at the Barcelo Palace from May 26 to June 2nd, 2012. I paid $6400 (inclusive of air fare)for a family of four. I booked through a travel agent which was hassle free and straight forward. We arrived... More
