El Pirata is on Playa Ropa in Zihuatenejo, at the far end of the beach. The rooms are clean, and spacious. The bed was soft, clean and made up nicely every morning. There is staff available throughout the day, though in the evenings it helps to speak some Spanish. My room had excellent internet service, in fact better than anywhere... More

The good part. Its close to Playa Ropa beach. The rest, its on a dirty alley, its very poorly maintained. The bathroom was almost unusable,no cold water in the sink, and the hot water(when it finally came was not hot) The kitchen was impossable to use. Nothing worked. While we can't speak to the hotel qualities and amenities (we live in Ixtapa), the restaurant is situated right on the beach. Casual atmosphere, genuine friendliness and good food at reasonable prices. Not much different from the string of restaurants along Playa la Ropa but near the end of the beach. We'd have to give the "restrooms" a minus one... More

We stayed at Hotel del Pirata on Playa la Ropa. http://www.hoteldelpirata.com Cost was 600 pesos($50) per night for AC room w/ view of beach. Restaurant is not so great, but owners and staff are very helpful and accommodating. This end of beach is away from larger hotels, but gets busy as it is popular with Mexican people. Free use of... 1. Helpful and friendly staff. 2. Perfect beach location right on frequent bus route. 3. Clean rooms with budget option available. 4. Jose took us fishing and we caught 4 sailfish in 5 hours!
