We have stayed in quite a few places in the Lands End peninsula before flying off to Scilly, and this is the only place we have returned to. A bit remote and rather limited, it is full of character. The rooms aren't huge, but are very pleasant. Everything works. The food is excellent, through the evening menu is understandably rather... More

The staff at Gurnards Head were kind enough to accommodate a large party over the bank holiday weekend to celebrate my birthday. Despite being one of the busiest weekends of the year, they excelled at all times of our stay. The rooms are clean, well thought out and totally comfortable. The food throughout our stay was consistently impressive, and the... More

Just back from a week in Cornwall where we rented a Landmark Trust farmhouse 5 minutes away from the Gurnard's Head Hotel. The weather was appalling, rain, hail, gales, mist. THE LOT. Fortunately the proximity of the Gurnard's Head made up for the disappointing time sheltering from the elements. The welcoming, warm atmosphere, friendly staff and great food drew us... More

I can understand why this place polarises opinion. If you are a bit fussy or expecting something different to what's on offer I can understand you not being satisfied here. My husband is certainly not shy in complaining but he didn't , not once , during our two night stay! If you knew him that would be testimony itself. In... More

A great venue to start our Lands End to John O Groats adventure. 12.7 miles from Lands End. Our bikes were safely locked away and secure, though not under cover. Evening staff all very pleasant, providing excellent, friendly service. Rooms were comfortable and clean and in keeping with the property. Not the minimalist, crisp norm of many hotels. The evening... More

Early morning sun illuminates the strong New England blue of the walls and the soft white of the panels behind the most comfortable bed you've slept in. The cows are audible before their meander past the window heading for morning pasture and the wind rustles the palms in the garden. Beyond, the sea might easily be gracing the shores of... More

We have just returned from a 3 night stay. We cannot fault this pub with rooms. The food and the staff in particular were outstanding. If you want standard pub grub then don't stay here. They love dogs and are very accommodating. We will return.

We ate here on our first night, although stayed in a rented cottage through Landmark Trust. The comments in the visitors book at the cottage recommended this place. The service was excellent from the two waitresses who were friendly and lively. The menu is imaginative, with some unusual items, food quality of the higgest level. Its not cheap and is... More

Visited during April 2013 with my husband for a meal only so can’t comment on the bedrooms. We were stunned by the quality of the food in what is essentially an old pub in the middle of nowhere. We are in agreement that this was the best dinner we have had during our many visits to Cornwall. This is a... More

We arrived after walking from Lands End on a cold and windy day. Our welcome was very warm (we were offered tea and cake on arrival) and our room was warm, but the public areas, bar and restaurant, were freezing cold. For example at dinner I wore a t shirt, fleece, down jacket and scarf, and I was still cold.... More
