This is a very welcoming pub in a beautiful rugged position just a short walk from the cliff path, and only a few miles from St Ives. The bar area is full of character and the daytime atmosphere is enhanced by lots of candles. There is also a small snug area with two sofas and a restaurant, but you can... More

I wanted to show my Swiss girlfriend the quintessential Cornish charm and hospitality in the midst of the iconic local coastline in December 2014. I could not have picked a finer spot for our stay. Our welcome from the brooding storm outside could not have been more personable. The bedroom was newly and tastefully furnished, as was the decor throughout... More

The brightly-painted Gurnard's Head sits high above the Cornwall coast in a moorland setting, with natural beauty all around. For visitors hiking or bicycling, it is a natural stopover for lunch or tea. We had a good lunch here in mid-April, with two fish dishes and a cider. For the price, the meal was a bit meager, but quite tasty.

We stayed at the Gurnards for 5 days whilst we were in the process of moving. Me, Tina, Poppy Loveday and the dog. The food was exceptional, the staff charming and very attentive and nobody minded about the dog. Great job Charles and I would love a jar of that homemade marmalade! Highly recommended

drove past this place a couple of times and too be honest thought it looked a bit a of a dump from the outside, however reading reviews we visited on the off chance at 2:30 in the afternoon, we were told that food was ending, but managed to cram in an order. Glad we did as the food was seriously... More

absurdity. Perhaps they think we diners/punters are imbeciles? The entire meal amounted to a starter.........endlessly late, served by a surly girl who failed to grasp simple requests like 'a bottle of water please' thrice. Shocking. Dreadful. We got fish and chips on the way home.

When we arrived they told us we had a table booked for four, not seven as we had specifically asked for. Once the table mix up was finally over the food was ok, nothing special, but not awful either. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again.

We travel to Cornwall at least twice a year and always come here for Sunday lunch. Food is top notch, wine and beer admirable, with friendly and efficient staff. Bags of atmosphere - even if the 'egg 'yolk' yellow exterior can be a bit of a shock. Dog and walker friendly.

A perfect place for a real break. We found fabulous staff (and plenty of them, not the usual cant find someone when you need them). Delicious food - original. Nice unpretentious, friendly place. felt very happy reading the paper with the dog at my feet. great value. No mobile signal so you really can leave the world behind!

The Gurnard's Head stands alone in a wild windswept bleak location in sight of the sea. Its exterior walls are painted bright yellow and its name is painted in huge white letters on the roof. It's hard to miss! The door opens on a cosy informal bar, which was set for lunch when we arrived. A more formal, but still... More
