We live in Salta, and now and then pop up into the mountains for a short break. If you have the use of a vehicle, La Vaca Tranquila provides an excellent base for a visit to the Valles Calchaquies. It is located just outside San Carlos, a small, friendly and quiet town (1500 pop.), founded by the Jesuits in 1630.... More

We spent three nights here at this working farm. The Belgian hosts are wonderful and speak French and Spanish. The accomodation is modern built and the rooms are very clean and spacious. Breakfast is tasty and alot of it is home made. The famous beer is very tasty. There isn't a restaurant but you are welcome to use the kitchen... More

Be careful if you go there, it's a trap! You will be tempted to extend your stay. It is so nice and quiet. A perfect place to relax and rest after the bumpy N40 from Cachi to Cafayete. We just saw the signs on the road and decided to have a look. Rooms are very confortable, the beer is excellent.... More

traveling to Argentina since 20 years I would like to disclose a really marvellous place to stay. in fact we discovered this place occasionally, because it is not listed in many guide books (e.g. LP or comparables). 1) the place is 100% professionally run by a very helpful and friendly couple from Belgium 2) the rooms are elegant furbished and... We discovered La Vaca Tranquila thanks to friends who knew about it. Outside of San Carlos, which itself is not far from Cafayate, it's a working ranch/farm that has a small number of guest rooms, that are beautiful and spotless. The couple who own the place - more of a 'guest house' than a motel or hotel - make you... More

This is a really wonderful place to stay. As others have noted, there is a really, really good microbrewery on site that makes about 5-6 beers (note: You can get this beer in Cafayate or at the Goblin bar in Salta, but that's about it). My wife and I did the horseback riding, first through the fields and then finally... More

We went to the Vaca Tranquila this summer in August. We were suppose to stay there 2 days, but it was so great that we've staid for 4 days! We like a lot artesanal beers and their's are really delicious! The host are friendly and the breakfasts are one of a kind because they use the farm products (yogourt, cheese,... More

Because of a wine festival we could not find a convenient room in Cafayate, so we ended up 20 km further, in San Carlos, and did not regret it one minute. Despite our very late arrival the owner's welcome was most friendly. The room was simple, quite large , with high ceilings, nicely decorated and clean. Bathroom a bit dark... More

On our trip through Argentina, coming from Salta, we had a wonderful stay in La Vaca Tranquila. Very helpful staff, delicious homemade breakfast and big clean rooms. The place is an active farm, the owner is making his own beer from this quiet hotel you can make trips to Los Molinos, Cafayate etc. Recommended!

We stayed here 1 night and recieved a great service from the owners themselves. Rooms were exactly as seen on the web, spotless clean, spacious and easy to keep warm as each room has a small stove and access to plenty of wood. Location is great and much nicer than staying in Cafayate! We only wished we could of stayed... More
