The location of this place is great: around the corner from the Zocalo where a lot of activities were going on (it was Dia De Los Muertos). The lift that brought us to the 3rd floor was amazing! Because it is so unusual (old!), it had to be operated by one of the hotel staff, so we only used it... More

You wrote: "The restaurant was always busy and it looked like they served decent food. We didn't see a menu/price list, but it looked rather expensive so we decided to eat elsewhere" , so let me explain that our restaurant is busy not only because we serve quality meals in a classical way: tablecloths, heavy ceramic, fine silverware, thin crystal... Hotel Colonial de Puebla is located in an old colonial building which is very close to the zócalo, Calle de los Sapos, El Parian Market and other tourist locations within the city of Puebla. English is spoken at the front desk if you don't speak Spanish. There is restaurant in the hotel that has a large menu. They serve breakfast,... More

One of the best. A grand building, magnificent atrium/staircase with indoor plants and display windows from the colonial era. All this and free wifi. The rooms are large enough, we had a street window the offered a grand view of the city. A nicely cooked breakfast with nice breads and excellent service was a welcome change from the usual buffet.... More

Did you stay with us?... All our rooms have two 1.10 x 0.60 meters towels for each guest, our mattresses were replaced on 2014, we are proud of our 19th Century French elevator (the oldest elevator still in use in Mexico) and our old brick and stone walls are really thick. More

We choose this hotel for its origin as it was build three centuries ago. The place is very close to central square Zocalo, but it is not noisy at all as the hotel building is shifted a little from the main street. The personnel is very friendly and restaurant is nice, even native people have Sunday meal there. We liked... More

Wonderful old world charm. We attended a convention in Puebla and several of our friends stayed here. The rooms were well appointed, the rooftop view is amazing, and even though our room was on the street and sometimes noisy, the thick walls and double pane doors with shutters muted the sounds so it wasn't a problem even though I am... The Hotel Colonial de Puebla is a wonderfully preserved (updated where necessary of course) and maintained example of the colonial architecture of Puebla. With a warm and hospitable staff who are happy to help out with whatever you might need. Spanish is helpful but usually there is at least one person in reception who speaks English as well. The restaurant... More

We enjoyed our 10-day stay, although we were kept up a couple of nights by travelers who chose to speak, sing, or yell at full voice until wee hours. Despite this, the hotel has a wonderful staff, helpful people at the front desk, a decent restaurant. The location is excellent for access to everything within the historic district of Puebla.... The hotel is in a good location, very little traffic noise. We had a shared room (two singles) and there was not much room for anything else! We were stepping over our suitcases to move around. The toilet was crammed behind the door and made it difficult to get in and out.

We usually go for a Hotel Colonial in any city in Latin America, and this one comes up to scratch. Fantastic central location, friendly staff, beautiful rooms, the oldest lift in México (it still works!), good restaurant. But the hot water needs some attention: there was a bath, but only lukewarm water to fill it... Otherwise this would have been... More
