This is a pretty average hostel. It's fairly social and it's got a beautiful upstairs patio, so it's a good place to hang out with other travelers. There are a variety of dorm and private rooms, including some private rooms with attached bathrooms. My biggest pet peeves were the fact that the rooms don't lock despite theft being a known... more

This is a well-equipped hostel in a great position, right at the heart of this beautiful and fascinating town. Ernesto and his staff looked after us and the other guests extremely well and in the friendliest way. Very strongly recommended, the hostel and the town. more

I stayed at the Villa Colonial on recommendation from the Chihuahua hostel owners and was not disappointed. I had a great time there, taking part in the trips the hostel organized, exploring the city and making friends with people from all over the world! There is a small place in the same street called "Maria Bonita" that I can recommend... more

This place does seem to be very nice for a hostal. The location is awesome. The house itself is beautiful on the inside (the rooms arent so much...I'll get to that later) but the views from the upper patios are really beautiful. At night, I just said, Wow, thats pretty! Villa Colonial Hostal is a very cute, clean, well-priced hostel in a great location. My husband and I are in our mid-20s and stayed here for 3 nights in November, 2006. My wife and I recently stayed at the Hostel Villa Colonial in Zacatecas and cannot praise it highly enough. The lodgings are clean and spacious, the owner (Ernesto)and his staff are awsome. We believe that this is a must for travellers through Mexico. Do yourself a favour and stay here. Cheers, Scott and Simone Wharfe. more
