My husband Ernesto and I spent a marvelous birthday weekend in Morelia where we fell in love with the city after many marvelous experiences inspired by Rose Calderone, innkeeper of our boutique hotel, Casona Rosa. She arranged to have a jazz singer sing Besame Mucho on the eve of my birthday and placed me on a hotel balcony for fireworks... More

For the last several years, I have ONLY stayed at La Casona Rosa. Every time I go (and I go three or four times a year), this lovely small posada (5 suites) is a home away from home. The staff has changed for the better--Lupe, the housekeeper, is a total gem and Mireya will bend over backward to make your... More

Last week we stayed in the Frida Kahlo suite at Casona Rosa. We’ve stayed at Cason Rosa before... it's our go-to place in Morelia... but never in that particular suite. It’s our new favorite! Two lovely bedrooms — beautifully appointed — and tons of light. Connected to the bigger bedroom is a really nice bathroom which looks brand new. I... More

There are three things that make Casona Rosa a can’t miss place to stay; The property, Rose, and Lupe. The property is perfectly located, 3-6 block walking distance from the center zone, great shopping, great churches and Lu Restaurant. DEFINITELY eat there! It’s creative fine dining at ridiculously affordable prices. Both our meals were terrific! The property is good size... More

My entire extended family in Morelia loves this place and the wonderful owner Rose! It's a beautiful place to stay; warm bright colors, 3 blocks from the city center, local decor, and fabulous people. Rose and her lovely staff will do anything they can to make you feel more comfortable and at home, it's hard not to feel like you're... More

We had a lovely stay and experienced wonderful friendly bi-lingual service and help with our touring questions. This small B&B like hotel has one of the finest locations in Morelia. Most of the attractions are only steps or blocks away. All beds in Mexico are slightly shorter ( a few inches) because most Mexican tourists are shorter as well. In... More

Casona Rosa is a magic colorful posada in downtown Morelia decorated with handicrafts from Michoacán. Rose, the charismatic owner, has created this unique place and makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. She is also a marvellous trip organizer and a real connoisseur of handicrafts of the region. The rooms are nice and spacious, and breakfast is... More

While homely can be nice, this was a bit too much like we'd arrived at someone's house, perhaps unannounced so they hadn't had time to clean up. Too much stuff.bed a bit small, room stuffy, no aircon, dogs barking at night. Had to go outside room behind a curtain for bathroom. Also, the fact that the owner has lived here... More

Gracias for your response. We appreciate our guests' input so we can work to continue to be #1 in Morelia with both TA and Lonely Planet. If there is anything that we can do (same with any small b&b or hotel) all you have to do is ask and the staff will do what they can to make it happen.... More

It was literally like having my own swanky home right in the historic center of Morelia. Everyone involved made sure we had a wonderful experience. Breakfast was wonderful, Rosa was warm and welcoming, and Jesus made sure we got where we needed to go. I can't wait to go back!
