Went to the Riu for 9 days after the wife spent Christmas at the Riu Palace and loved it. VIEWS -phenomenal. Landscape has more visual interest and diversity than Cancun i.e. desert location and spectacular views of Land's End (Lover's Cove & Divorce Beach) from the hotel.
