Sunday lunch was booked for a family event. The menu was not particularly interesting but prices were well above average and not, in my experience, merited by the food itself. Whitebait starter at £7.00 was small. Vegetables accompanying the roast were unimaginative, though meat was more generous. The sweets were praised. Service was slow and uncoordinated. I don't understand the... More

Charming, secluded, great food, attentive and interested service without being intrusive. Stayed two nights with family and the experience was one of the best (and I stayed in hotels around the world on 261 nights in the last year).

Simon the Landlord really made my stay great. Lovely room with character and a bathroom in the loft. Lovely breakfast. The village provided a great location in a wonderful part of the world. Highly recommended.

The pub itself is lovely, the village is pretty and the owners were very pleasant. The room was quirky with a private bathroom in a loft room. I feel the room was over priced (125) as I have stayed in better rooms in the Cotswolds for 80 per night. The bathroom window wont shut but as the room stunk of... More

The ambiance, level of service, and quality of food were as good as I have had in England. The staff were very friendly and the attention to detail of our entire experience was terrific. We enjoyed the asparagus risotto, the fresh trout and the best fish and chips we have had on our trip through England.

My niece and I stayed here on Saturday night and thought it was fantastic. The owners were charming, very comfortable room, lovely food and great menu, gorgeous village, very good value and topped by a superb breakfast!!! It is a great find and we will be back.

Pleasant surprise in a sleepy village. Loved that Simon (owner) made time to chat to all his patrons regulars or not. Great selection of local beers and spirits. Enjoyed a perfectly cooked rare steak and a hard too top beef ale pie. Room good, with a comfy bed. I have only one suggestion ... dry sherry and horseradish in the... More

We enjoyed our meals and our drinks at the pub! The food was delicious and fresh, and the staff felt like friends at the end if our stay. We loved the whole area and would recommend going for a relaxing holiday. We loved the church nearby, saint Nicholas's.

We spent the week of Xmas in a nearby cottage, and immediately made the Horse and Groom our local. Simon the landlord made us welcome every time we stepped through the doors. We ate as a family in the restaurant and found the menu attractive and the food excellent. The ales on tap are enticing and Simon is passionate about... More

Having stayed for two nights in 2013 we thought we would stay once again on our homeward trip from Cornwall, NOTHING has changed, the welcome was just as warm, the room just as warm and cosy, the bar area snug with chairs to sink into and read the paper by the huge log fire whilst enjoying the beer of the...
