We reached the halfway point on our trip around the beautiful Cabot Trail. We arrived in Pleasant Bay early in the evening and found there were not a lot of choices in this area. The motel is older but seemed to be clean. The floor appeared to have pet stains on the carpet. The beds were comfortable. We ate dinner... More

It's a motel, so if you're looking for a 5-star experience, this isn't it...but if you're looking for a clean and affordable place to stay along the Cabot Trail, this is an amazing location. There's a restaurant on site, I'd recommend paying the extra $10 for an ocean view room because...well, view of the ocean. It's a quick walk down... More

We were traveling around Cape Breton and my husband does not like to make advance reservations. I was glad that my intuition made me call ahead in the morning and book a room at MidTrail Motel. When we arrived around 6 PM the no vacancy sign was out and I had not seen anything else that I would have wanted... More

We were originally supposed to stay elsewhere but those plans fell through last minute. We were able to book a room at the Midtrail Motel. From first glace, the paint colours threw me off, it looked dated but that is aesthetics only. I went to get the room key. The service wasn't rude but it wasn't overly friendly either. I... More

The motel was basic, nothing fancy, but clean. The bed and pillows weren't super comfy. The restaurant was convenient, but just ok. We were there at the end of the season and they were missing many drinks/menu items. The staff were very friendly and the location was ideal. They have wifi, which is good since there is no cell phone... More

We had decided to stop in this town, half way around the Cabot Trail. Knowing in advance there was not much choice in this very small town. We arrived in the evening and decided this was our best option for the night. The room was very basic, but comfortable enough for the night. The carpet looked like it had pet... More

Unwelcoming from the very start. Grumpy woman at checkin. Key wouldn't open the room door so was given another room. Depressing room. Windows facing the ocean dirty. Nice bath tub. Worst sleep I have had in years.

Having just 2 days to spend doing the Cabot Trail, we decided on this place (from a list we found on the Cabot Trail's website) because it was located near the northern end of the route. We made the reservation flawlessly and courteously over the phone. Doing the trail clockwise beginning at Port Hawksbury, we arrived at the hotel after... More

We stayed at the Mid Trail Motel in Room 19 - standard queen ocean view room with a little balcony off the back sliding doors. The room was a basic motel room, nothing fancy. The bed was hard, the pillows flat and the bedspread in need of replacement. However, it was inexpensive and the location is quite pretty. And the... More

This was a perfect stopover for the whale watching excursion we had booked. It was two couples and we booked rooms 11 & 12 which was like having your own private hotel. They are the only two on the top floor with a fantastic view and our balconies were connected. No going outside and into the other room to be... More
