There is not much up here so prices are higher. The room was clean but very basic - no padded chairs but only outdoor style chairs and table, no coffee maker/ fridge etc that you get in most motels. Small concrete deck looking at ocean. Restaurant was as expected with plain but fairly good food and Nova Scotia wine.

We chose this motel because of it's location. It was a fairly typical older motel. The main complaint I had is that the walls are very thin - small children running around two doors down could be heard in our room! We stayed in an ocean view room. Spent some time in the sunshine up on the hill behind the... More

The location of this hotel is great and the rooms are clean. It is a great place to stay if you plan any whale watching or hiking in the park between Cheticamp and Pleasant Bay. The staff, however could not have been more unfriendly. It was almost kind of comical. We felt like we had arrived on the Cabot Trail... More

I like to travel in style: camping for me is a 3-star hotel. I understood, though, when booking my vacation in Cape Breton (amazing, by the way), that there would be no 5-star hotels on my trip, and this motel confirmed all my suspicions. When we arrived, we found that the MidTrail Motel was quite a sight: the buildings are... More

I had the worst sleep of my entire trip at this motel. The scenery was beautiful, the room was clean, and the meal at their restaurant was good. It was unfortunate that the bed was so bad. It was hard as a rock and anytime my husband or I moved in it it creaked so loud it woke the other... More

This is a clean, quiet, comfortable motel at Pleasant Bay, on the northwest perimeter of the Cabot Trail. Our only complaint was it was a little pricey for what we got, however, it was the August tourist season. The motels dining room had some good regional dishes., and the staff were efficient and helpful.

We stopped here for a late lunch after going on a whale watching tour. The food was mediocre at best. As noted in another review, the fish & chips had soggy batter. The seafood chowder had a lot of fish, but I actually had to salt it and I don't salt anything! Our kids seemed to enjoy their chicken quesadilla... More

Although this is a nice little spot in a beautiful area off a fabulous route (Cabot Trail), our stay was not great. The term "ocean view", which is what we asked for, is not necessarily what one expects. We have a "view", but only from the corner of our room, and/or if we sat on the nice little deck off... More

We were generally disappointed with our accommodation at Mid Trail Motel and Inn. The location is stunning, but there is not much to the rooms, even if you pay extra for "ocean view", as we did. For $125, one should not expect luxury accommodation, but this did not seem reasonable for the quality. Our family room had two double beds,... More

We stayed in room 4 at the units near the entrance. This particular unit had two new comfortable beds and was fully renovated.... new bathroom, paint and the whole works. The air conditioner worked well, but we were able to sleep with the patio door open as the evening air got cooler. We went on a whale watch tour with... More
