Situated in an unspoilt village with a lovely walk to the sea. The rooms are very smart clean and well appointed. We had a good shower and bath And ample towels and storage space. Tv channels limited.only complaint was noise from the upstairs room as the ceiling was very thin but this is a very old building and I am... More

Room was gorgeous, very spacious with a four poster bed and large sofa. Food in the restaurant was varied and absolutely delicious. Staff were very helpful. Very busy evenings with locals in the pub as well as hotel guests. Big log fires and very friendly atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

We stayed here last weekend for one night and it really was lovely. It was the first weekend away from our very young children and i am glad we chose the masons. The welcome and goodbye was very warm. Our cottage room was private and set among beautiful gardens. We booked to eat in the bar and when we were... More

I stayed here during a few nights away on business. Only stayed the one night but it was very pleasant indeed. The staff were very friendly, the food was great, and the room was very comfortable. If you want out in the sticks, no light pollution, and peace and quiet then definitely look into the Mason's Arms.

We chose The Masons Arms because it was recommended by Alistair Sawday and had reasonable reviews on Trip Advisor. We are glad we did. We were impressed by the happy atmosphere amongst the very helpful staff. We stayed in one of the cottages which was roomy with lovely views over the countryside. All the cottages were being renovated and updated.... More

Had a great break taking the dog with us. The location is perfect for long walks with great views. We were made very welcome, we stayed in one of the cottages which was clean and comfortable. If the weather was better you could sit outside on your own patio. The food was very good if you are taking your dog... More

This review is about eating at the "Masons Arms" - I have no experience of the accomodation. We ate here twice as a group of four (ie eight meals) during a week in Devon. It would be hard to find a more picturesque building. There are two main bar areas and a separate restaurant. We ate in the larger of the bar... More

Having found this pub last year for a lovely afternoons lunch and having read the reviews (at the time) we decided to book a night's accomadtion there with our two dogs. What a disapointment!! When we booked the room, we asked if we could reserve a table in the bar, as we wanted to take our dogs with us -... More

I am very sorry that you feel so upset about your recent stay. We were not aware until after you checked in that you had two dogs with you, we retain 7 of our 21 rooms as dog friendly and if we had known at the time of check in we may have been able to offer you a larger... More

We had reserved a table in the restaurant for our arrival day. The bottle of rose wine we ordered was warm, and the (foreign) staff seemed confused by our request for a cold bottle. None was available, so we hoped an ice-bucket would chill it (it didn't). The menu consisted of four choices: the chef's specials and the comprehensive bar... More

The weather had a lot to do with it [see picture]. If you want decent beer, sound food and some great walks, then this could be a place you may like. Easy access to lots of places by foot, but very quiet out of main season. Food was okay - not inspiring, but sound. Wines were slightly interesting, but the... More
