Went here for Sunday lunch, Meat presliced, yorkshire pud uneatable, tough, roast potatoes not nice. The desert was passable. The saving grace of the meal. Was lead to believe that the 'George' served good food. Would not go there again. Very disappointed.

We have eaten here several times now at lunch time and in the evening, The restaurant has a genuine rural feel to it and the food refects this,. Excellent quality meat ,good fresh veg , yummy puds. Very good value always, but especially on Steak Night. We followed the owner from his previous restaurant at Swerford. Good service from very... More

As others have said the food was simple but good and the restaurant was very nice. However the rooms were not what our group expected from seeing the hotel's photos. My bathroom had a sign asking me not to use the shower and when it came to bed time it was impossible to sleep because of the noise from the... More

Have eaten here before and enjoyed the meal, but lunch today was disappointing with very small portion of fried fish for my husband and rubbery boiled ham for me, which I suspect was tinned. Not sure that we will bother going back, which is a shame as we once had our best ever Sunday lunch here and had high expectations... More

We had booked a weekend at The George along with my husband's 85 year old mum. Our welcome was good and the food could not be faulted. We ate there for lunch when we arrived and both evenings of our stay, plus breakfast, and it was all delicious. The staff were very friendly and the ambience in the restaurant and... More

I would have to highly recommend this Hotel to any weary traveller. The staff were extremely friendly and meal was cooked to perfection. Being a long way from home I was hesitant at first on staying out of town, but this proved to be an unecessary concern as the whole experience was perfect. The young lady behind the bar went... More

Have eaten at the George on many occasions, the food and value for money is always exceptional! Service is always good and delivered by polite staff! Menu seams to change every so often and the choice caters for all, well worth a visit!

Stayed here with a friend for one night for a girly catch-up (we live 200 mls apart) - exceeded expectations - check-in efficient but extremely friendly - room excellent for a period property. Ordered food at the bar - selected a table in the garden and without exception all staff were fantastic. Good nights' sleep - breakfast superb. Would recommend... More

We take a break in this area every year and struggle to find somewhere with both good food and nice rooms, The present owners have apparently only been here for 6 months so although the bathroom needed some reburbishment, I expect this will be in the pipeline, and the room was clean and well-serviced throughout our stay. We ate in... More
