This hotel is 75 years old, with personality. Colonial style, beautiful wood work. Very comfortable rooms, good and very friendly staff. We had a little problem with our AC, they came and we change our room, this was fast and painless :)) Beautiful sightseeing, nice pool, the beaches are great for children. The restaurant and bar are really good, delicious... More

Rooms are clean and air conditioning works well! Pool is wonderful to swim in. Everyone was friendly and helpful! I have known the Playa de Cortes for 50 + years. We used to stay at the Miramar next door but go to the bar at the Playa because it was so lovely. The food is okay, really enjoyed the Veracruzano... More

We'll definitely be back. We got a Junior Suite on the end of the suites building, so for $77 we had two balconies, the largest facing the cove and the smaller one overlooking the gardens. Fabulous views, worth the price. "Suite" didn't mean a separate bedroom, it meant a large room with sitting area and the two queen beds. The... More

This is an old beautiful hotel located right on a bay of the Sea of Cortez. It is an old Spanish styled hotel built in the 1930's and decorated with some old Spanish antiques. There were lots of weddings there on the weekends we were there. The beds are hard and the hotel needs a facelift but it has lots... More

Hotel Playa de Cortes is Mexico of my youth. Some of the details like hot water or burnt out light bulbs is just a reminder you are in Mexico. No problema....poco tiempo. But the best part is the hotel on the whole. It's charm, the view, and location is perfect. Just grab a drink, walk across the pool area down... More

We have stayed in numerous hotels of Mexico, but this had to be the worst. Upon check in, we found that the toilet would not flush. ( To their credit, a repairman was sent quickly. ) water pressure was miserably low, with hot water taking a lengthy time to arrive. The beds were very heard, plus the noise that continued... More

The beach is nice, everything else SUCKS!!! this is probably the worst hotel i've ever stayed at, the beds are hard as concrete, there is not enough water in the bathroom, the room door and bathroom door didn't close, there was a nasty smell and mold. to make everything even worst it was a wedding party that night and live... We pass by Guaymas on our way to San Carlos and decided to stay there for a night. The hotel is very grand with lots of grounds and the small beach in front of the hotel feels almost private. The staff are readily at our service but kept a low profile, we hardly notice their presence, old school staff. The... More

Off the beaten path this wonderful old mansion right on the water manages to hold its aged head high. The rooms are comfortable and the food and drink are excellent and joyously served. Our one night stay was enhanced by a spectacular sunset.

Driving back from Alamos Sonora to Tucson and decided to break up the trip with a stop in Guaymas/San Carlos. Unfortunately, the place has seen better days (a good 50 years ago). Access off the main road is one of the worst cobblestone affairs that I have seen. Rooms were old but but some did have a bit of old... More
