This hotel would not be so bad if they just replaced all of the carpeting, linens and mattresses. I found the service to be good and the food at the restaurant to be alright. more

First when I arrived I was told that I didn't have a room reservation, for which I had paid for entirely already. After some time worrying and waiting, It turned out that they had already given my room to a firend of mine... just because he mentioned my name. No ID checked...my friend's name wasn't on the room! When I... more

We were pleasantly surprised when we opened our door to a room that was large with a mini-kitchen, and a spectacular view. Other people in our group had rooms with verandas and hot tubs. The bar and restaurant are located at the marina so it is a short walk. It was Valentine's Day and the restaurant was decorated in red... more

in summer 2008, I stayed in this hotel that was a disaster, but the location is very good, quiet and retired. We returned a few weeks ago, from the entrance there is a change. Everything is very clean, very friendly staff, most of the rooms are remodeled. Widespread, it changed my opinion with respect to last year. And I hope... more

The best thing about the hotel was the restuarant "Joey Bistro". The food and service were both good. The room itself smelled musty. The bed were hard, but a very thin matress cover helped a little. The furniture was cracking and old. The shower never got hot, but did get warm. The tub had mildew/mold along the edges. And the... more

Basically, If I had an enemy, I would recommend this hotel to him. I stayed there for 4 nights with my family. The lobby was very nice. It had a small water fall. That made decide to stay here. Big mistake. The room had a very dirty carpet. I had two kids that wanted to watch the TV. The TV... more

I stayed here with my former college room-mate for 2 nights. The property and pool are very nice, but there were several issues. The beds and pillows were just about the worst we had ever slept on, very hard and the pillows were like lumps. Do not plan on using the "gym" as nothing in it works, and even if... more

The reviews for this hotel seem to be very mixed. I think San Carlos is a very beautifu town. Almost all the street signs and advertisements are in English. The residence are about 70% Americans and Canadians. This hotel has 4 places to eat (3 restaurants and a pizza bar), with one restaurant outside. It has 2 bars. The beach... more

We spent last weekend at the San Carlos Plaza. One of us is a diabetic and the insulin must be kept cool. We had a very small cooler and were immediately told that we could not bring it to our room. I asked if there was fridge and was told no. I totally ignored the person and brought the cooler... more

Spent 2 nights at the San Carlos Plaza. Friendly staff and good restaurant food. Best part about it was the location on the beach and the service. However, when I booked the room online, I was promised a free breakfast which the hotel refused to give us. When I complained, the front desk person told me to call the reservation... more
