After two weeks in B&Bs, our apartment at LaRuina was just what we wanted. We enjoyed the chance to prepare some of our own meals, and to have a little privacy. The location is unbeatable--two short blocks south of the central jardin and famous parroquia (church). We loved sunsets from the rooftop palapa. And Marty and Lorraine were wonderful hosts,... More

Located just a few blocks from the Jardin in San Miguel de Allende and other attractions, La Ruina was the perfect setting for our month-long vacation. The well-furnished kitchen was great, and before long we were buying oranges to make our own juice each day. We would walk to the Jardin for our morning coffee, then on to wherever our... More

The rental was very easy to arrange with the owner, Lorraine. The casa at La Ruina is perfect and is so much more than we expected. It is located near to everything. There is a laundry/dry cleaner nearby on Jesus and a well stocked convenience store just up the hill on Terraplen. There are two apartments upstairs, which are also... More

LaRuina was our home away from home for 10 days during the 2007 Christmas Holidays with our 2 grown daughters and their husbands. An architectural gem, and only 3 blocks from El Jardin, Juarez Park, 2 neighborhood grocers, many shops and restaurants, it was the perfect spot to launch our varied activities. Marty and Lorraine, the owners (and artists) were... More

We recently returned from a 10-day stay at La Ruina in SMA and it was a glorious way to spend the holidays. We were lucky to have both the main house and Apartment #1 and would recommend both whole-heartedly (though would probably opt for Apartment #2 if we came back only because it gets better daylight). There is so much... More

A first time vacation with another couple was successful in large part because of the many positives in our 8 day stay at La Ruina vacation home 3 blks. from Jardin. With some physical challanges of our friend, we were all able to enjoy the Independence Day weekend due to the ease and convenience of our SM home. We could... More

We have stayed at La Ruina every year for 4 years. The location can't be beat- 2 blocks from the Jardin, the pulse of San Miguel. The apartment is decorated and furnished tastefully in true Mexican style and color. Everything you need is in the apartment and anything you want is within walking distance. The roof palapa view at sunset... More

My wife and I have enjoyed staying at La Ruina for the past seven years (and hopefully for many more). It has been a great place to enjoy San Miguel Allende. and I recommend it. The La Ruina property, located in the historic district, consists of 2 one bedroom rental apartments, a tiny studio and a large suite of rooms.... More
