We went here as a family yesterday, Easter Day. Seven of us. We all ordered different meals, starters, mains and sweets. All the meals were beautifully cooked and wonderfully presented. The waiting time was minimal, and the staff were all polite, helpful and friendly. We have eaten here a few times over the last few years, but today, Ive finally... More

Five of us enjoyed a lunchtime meal of five different mains (pan-fried salmon, braised beef brisket with dumplings, pork medallions, deep fried haddock (fish & chips), and breaded scampi. The desserts were also good, particularly the creme brulee with ginger ice cream. Afterwards a short walk down main street in the direction of Gillamoor Bank, past the War Memorial, provides... Came across the Royal Oak by chance after following a diversion. Very friendly staff, cosy atmosphere and good food. A wide selection of sandwiches, soups and full meals. Would recommend for lunch if in the area. Ample parking on the road or car park.

Absolutely lovely pub.... cheerful staff. The menu was very good and covers all tastes, the chilli was hot just as I like it and hubby had the fish (haddock) and said it was "perfect" . The room is very clean, hand wash shower gel etc provided. Parking was a bit tight but managable.

Visited with friends today for Sunday lunch. Large variety of choices ,something to please everyone. Service friendly and efficient. Food quality first class, cooked to perfection, beautifully presented. Yorkshire size portions, but all managed to eat 3 courses, amazing value at £16. Will be returning again.

We ate here while staying nearby. Service was very friendly. The menu is huge, so should suit everyone. We had starters and mains, but Yorkshire portions meant we were very full and unable to finish our mains. Everything was nicely cooked. Copper Dragon beer was served.

The Royal Oak Inn is warm, friendly with a great atmosphere and food! The bed was one of the most comfortable i have ever slept in. The room had everything you needed, warm and inviting and the shower really powerful, which is a must in the morning for me. We stayed in and had dinner on our second night, the... More

First time visit to The Royal Oak, the warm welcome was augmented by the lovely open fire. Room 2 was very comfortable and nice and warm given it is January, though the creaky boards in the bathroom cause you to watch your step! The hotel is centuries old and full of charm so no surprise. The food is superb managed... More

Huge menu and very good food, portions are not huge, which for me is a good thing, I was also able to have a starter as a main, which again was good. Excellent selection of fish dishes. Really enjoyable evening and very reasonable prices. Service was also very good and unhurried which is nice.
