I stayed here for one cold night in early December. The reception by the hotel staff was very warm, and the evening meal, of gammon steak, very enjoyable. The upstairs room I was staying in, in the outside wing, was very cosy and comfortable, although once the heating went off it got very cold, and was still very cold for... More

We stayed here for one night with our dog, on a recommendation from a friend. We felt really welcome on arrival and our room was nice. We ate dinner and breakfast in the pub and both times the food was perfect (huge portions too!). The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The open fire in the pub... More

Visited and stayed over weekend. Rooms just as nice and pub refurb is brilliant. The food have to say we recon has got even better and ambience is perfect. Still offers lots of options and value stays available. Perfect stop for a Yorkshire pub b&b

My husband and I had an evening meal at The Royal Oak several years ago and it was lovely. We returned a few months ago whilst on a walk, for Sunday lunch - it was excellent. Today we returned again whilst on another walk and we weren't disappointed. Lovely food and good service

A varied menu that changes during the year, the local game is currently on offer! It is worth booking a table in advance. Customers get good value from the 2 courses for £15.00. Really great value and a fab atmosphere.

Really lovely little find this. Cosy pub with delicious food and friendly staff. The photos of the rooms don't do them justice, for a very reasonable winter break offer price we got a gorgeous comfy room, with modern fittings and lots of nice touches. The breakfasts were great too! Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a great central location... More

We went for an evening meal when staying nearby but were disappointed. Non-resident customers are clearly an inconvenience for the manageress. The next table to us were having a Basil Fawlty experience while we waited for anyone to take our order. One of them had ordered salmon pie but when a salmon fillet arrived instead he was told he'd have... More

I have just returned from a week off and I have spoken separately to both the staff at work that evening. Unfortunately, I don't believe that this review is entirely a correct statement of events that evening and we most definitely welcome all customers resident or not. It was extremely busy as quite a few diners arrived at the same... More

First the staff - excellent service, always with a smile and very helpful and extremely professional with the human touch which is a bonus, 5* plus. The food - superb range of dishes at a more than reasonable price, quality and taste outstanding - wished i lived local would... More

Our first night in Yorkshire, on recommendation of owners of Low Hagg Farm cottages, Jeff & Fran, we called into Royal Oak and were greeted by very helpful and pleasant staff. We had a lovely meal, £15 for 2 courses, superb service and hot welcoming food after a 4 1/2 hour drive. We also went back on our last night... More

Stopped in the Royal Oak for an evening meal. The place was very friendly and the menu was extensive, the food was of a high standard and all my party enjoyed it. I would imagine its a lovely setting in the summer months, Worth a visit if in the area.
