We had a relaxing weekend in this lovely hotel, the dinner was excellent both nights and the staff very friendly. The hotel is atmospheric and comfortable, and the spring walks in the Slieve Bloom mountains, Clonmacnoise and Lough Boora were gorgeous.

This beautiful castle was the most authentic of the castles we visited. It was loaded with grace and charm, and the staff was extremely thoughtful, helpful, kind and courteous. I have been to many locations for vacation. Kinnitty Castle and Ireland take a back seat to none.

Stayed here with my brother, thought we'd treat ourselves. Very friendly staff throughout our overnight stay, at reception, in the Library Bar and in the restaurant.
We drove from Dublin over the Slieve Bloom Mountains which has fab views but not for a nervous driver and not at night! We were shown around by the friendliest of reception staff, smiling...

This was the third castle on our Sceptre castle tour. We arrived very late at night traveling from Kilkenny through the Slieve Bloom mountains. This is not recommended, especially after dark! We liked the look of the Castle from the road and enjoyed the long drive up through the trees. It is 13 kms from Birr and about 1km from Kinnity (small) village.
