We stayed here for 2 nights in the Tintern room. We were greeted by Gordon with a very warm welcome, although it was very late when we arrived. Our room was absolutely beautiful, lovely furnished and an extremely comfortable bed, the hospitality tray was filled with an abundance of tea, coffee, milk etc.. The breakfast was to die for for,... What a fantastic B & B. All the rooms are luxurious. We stayed as an extended family and took all 4 rooms, so got to see them all, equally special! Lounge and dining room lovely. Great choice for breakfast, lovely cereals and fresh fruit, abundance of toast, tea, coffee etc. Wide variety of cooked options too. Greeting, friendly and welcoming.... More

Prior reviews were right on point. Welcoming hosts, very comfortable bed (Tintern Room - overlooks the road and pub/restaurant across the street, but the town quiets down early), wide choice for breakfast (from traditional Welsh, to vegetarian, to Eggs Benedict) with fresh fruit and terrific local bacon. Nice touches such as toiletries in regular sized bottles (not the annoying little... More

Booked in here by show organisers, what a gem! Such a warm welcome, lovely room with plenty of forethought to customer's needs. Fantastic breakfast set us up for the day with local suppliers. Nothing was too much trouble, highly recommended for a stay in the Principality.

I had to divert into Caldicot from walking the Coastal Path, but the extra yardage was worth it. A warm welcome with pot of tea and boots cleaned. Good breakfast, comfortable. The Castle is just across the road and offered a pleasant evening stroll before a visit to the Castle pub right opposite The Lychgate. Perhaps a tad pricey by... More

On arrival, we received a warm welcome from our hosts, swiftly followed by a pot of tea and some biscuits. Our room (Chepstow) was beautifully decorated and the en-suite shower room appeared to be brand new. The bed was very comfortable and I would like to know where the pillows came from, so that I could buy some. There was... More

... then by all means, consider staying at The Lychgate. The owners, Glynis and Gordon, are genial hosts, and they have a small but extremely nice guest house. While the rooms are not large, they are nicely decorated and kept - and the two we rented for a five-person family visit also had very nice bathrooms. The breakfasts prepared by... More
