I like staying at hotels which add something to one's holiday. The Alsisar Mahal is a former palace with a huge wooden entrance gate, located in a small village on the northern edge of the Shekhawati region. It's been restored very well - one feels like a Maharaja when eating in the glorious formal dining room, and the reception area... More

A beautiful palace hotel in a village. The Hotel itself is very beautiful and is royaly decorated. Rooms are huge and pool is great. Dinning room and lobby area are exquisite, very true to a king's residence. Average room in this hotel has space of minimum of two rooms in a regular hotel, its includes a spacious sitting area plus... More

Super visit. Drove from Delhi. Friendly hosts. Helpful staff. Peaceful place. Good food. Nice accommodation. Expensive is always relative. Travel around and use the palace as a hub. Do a weekend or more here.

A former palace and now a wonderful heritage hotel. Our room was huge and had a four poster bed. The dining room is spectacular. Step just outside the hotel and you are in an atmospheric village that is off the tourist track. A wonderful experience.

During our trip around India, it was quite refreshing to step back in time and enjoy the basics in life where our room had no television! The setting was fantastic and the dining room spectacular. The food was delicious too - all prepared under the watchful eye of Sham - a colourful character!

It was like going back in time. This hotel is the gem of the Shekawati region, a region which used to be a vital stop on the old Silk Route.-. It is a huge old palace that is remote and other worldly. Our room was spectacularly huge as was the bathroom. (Large shower worked well.) The food was excellent (all... More

In the middle of semi desert - Alsisar, part of our trip. Hotel hidden behind façade with beautifully decorated courtyards and swimming pool. Rooms good with plenty of bathroom and bedroom space. A portable heater kept the room warm at night. Only disappointment was the food since only place to eat. best described as unimaginative with lack of choice.

Over the last two decades there has been a considerable expansion of interest by western tourists in visiting the small towns that make up the Shekhawati district, about 200km southwest from Delhi. The principle interest is in the fabulous ‘haveli’ of the 19th to early 20th century Mahawis businessmen, who lived in the Shekhawati district. Sadly these businessmen have moved... More

But also beautiful. I'm glad I stayed here but I wouldn't want to stay longer than one night. It is an incredibly interesting building and I was quite charmed by all the passageways and turrets. Our room was superb (four poster and separate lounge area) but I just couldn't bring myself to have a shower in the bathroom. It was... More

Alsisar Mahal is in the middle of Alsisar, which is in the middle of nowhere. It is a genuine Indian palace, slightly renovated, offering some rustic charm. Its potential, however, is far from fulfilled. Pros: - Nice setting Cons - Weak service - Rooms of little comfort (almost no heat during winter) - Poor breakfast - Poor internet
