Los Mapaches is a very relaxed and peaceful option when staying in Tulum. It's about 1-2km out of town and a bit less than that from the good beaches, but right opposite the entrance to the ruins area. It is next to the main highway which was slightly annoying but it gets quiet at night - bring earplugs and you're... More

Absolutely fantastic B&B just out of town. Chelo and her sons are incredibly hospitable hosts. It almost feels like you're back at home getting a cooked meal from mum. Breakfast is to die for and different every day! Rooms are like bungallos and huge, plenty of power points, very user friendly, heaps of locker space and secure. Rooms are tidied... More

Loved this place! Literally opposite the entry to Tulum ruins so great location for that, i'm sure it is the only place to stay so close. The bike hire is useful to get to town as it is quite a long walk (maybe just over 2km). There are cycle paths all around Tulum so it is pretty safe. It is... More

Thank you very much for your very friendly hospitality (best infos what to do and how)! We really enjoyed the days in your lovely hostel as well as your awesome breakfast (first, we got a fruit plate with cake and a smoothie, second real mexican food cooked fresh and homemade)! We also enjoyed having the bikes for free (hostel is... More

Where do I begin? You will be greeted with smiles and whole-heartedly embraced into the beautiful home of Chelo and her family. (and her gorgeous pets) The property:
A quaint, well landscaped, spacious, rustic yet charming accommodation. The lofted log cabin style rooms are basic but so atmospheric, and although there is no air conditioning the fans are more than... More

Chelo and her sons were friendly and helpful. The place is just outside of town but very convenient to the public beach and the ruins, (much better beach access than in-town places). And with the free bicycle, you can be in town in five to ten minutes. Nothing is far. Though right on the road, I didnt hear the traffic... More

The owner will welcome you whole heartedly to this wonderful place. It is built in a traditional way with no aircon, but magically the place stays way cooler than anywhere else. If you are after local advice the owner will help you with anything. Upon arrival you are given free bikes to get around meaning that everything becomes really close.... More

This is an amazing and hauntingly beautiful hostel! It's so exotic, owners are fantastic and very helpful. We found out where and when to see tortoises, where to eat and we had bikes which made our stay so much easier as the hostel is a little remote. Breakfasts are delicious, every day some other warm meal and fresh exotic juice,... More

Would really recommend staying at Chelo and sons'sweet hostel - couldn't say a bad word! Chelo was easily contactable by email and from the few messages exchanged we could tell how lovely she was and this was definitely the case! She was warm and welcoming and her English was really good (despite what she says!) and she explained everything to... More

I stayed with Chelo for 3 days at the beginning of my Mexico holiday. chelos's warm welcome after a long flight was a great introduction. The cabana I stayed in was perfect for an independent traveller - it was clean, the bed was comfy and the fan did the trick. There was some noise from the road as there is... More
