I had a great stay in La Mariposa, wish it could have been longer. The Italian owners were very charming and helpful throughout our stay. I had been to Tulum before and knew not to stay in Ave Tulum. I had read a few reviews on La Mariposa and decided to stay. The rooms were very clean the owners and... more

In my 40 years of traveling in all parts of Mexico, The Hotel Mariposa was my most unpleasant stay at a Mexican Hotel, ever. The hotel is situated on the edge of town in a poor, but seemingly safe residential neighborhood. When I arrived, the Italian owner tried jacked up the price $10.00 U.S. from what I was quoted. He... more

Myself and my husband spent 4 nights in Tulum at La Mariposa. Perfect place right in down town, 5mn away from the Tulum main Avenida with shops, restaurants and bars. The great point of this hotel is that although this is in down town, it's very quiet and allows then to sleep at night! Accomodations are then very large, with... more

My husband and I decided to stay in town for our second trip to Tulum after being shocked to discover that the prices of the beach cabanas had practically doubled since we stayed in them on our first trip to Tulum two years ago. We contacted many town hotels, and were annoyed to learn that some wanted to charge prices... more

My best girl friend and I just returned from Tulum. For the second half of our vacation we stayed at "La Mariposa". Mariza and Guillermo are absolutely the most warm and friendly people ever ! The hotel itself is lovely. The rooms were very clean and the over all decor is beautiful. We stayed on the third floor and had... more

Felt like part of the hotels family. Owners were always around and helpful and always had time to talk or answer questions. Always had great directions and reccomendations for the area. Great water pressure and cold a/c and frig in rooms. Location was quiet and close to everything in town and just a short 5 minute drive to the beaches... more

My best girlfriend & I went to Tulum for a girls getaway and stayed at La Mariposa for the last 3 nights of our stay. From the time of booking right until the day we left Tulum, Mariza & Guillermo were incredibly helpful and provide fantastic service. They provided us with lots of tips of great places to go, a... more

An interesting, relatively small hotel, delightful owners, a variety of rooms, each very attractive. Situated in Tulum, which is an excellent centre for exploring the Yucatan, and the Mayan ruins, and has an abundance of good restaurants. We cannot wait to return to the Mariposa and its special delights. more

The Mariposa Inn made our stay in Tulum especially wonderful. It is conveniently located in the downtown area, but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in the original Mayan part of the city. This delightful neighborhood is friendly, and walking distance to shops and restaurants. The innkeepers, Guillermo and Mariza are warm and friendly and eager to be helpful in... more

Set off the main street in downtown Tulum, lies a charming, fresh ,super clean small hotel. The new owners, Mariza and Guillermo are extra accomodating and give you a great value for your pesos. They joyfully help you with any questions you might have about the area and all of Mexico for that matter. Their fluency in English helps alot.... more
