simple and grounding. the staff treats you like family. the cabanas are basic and cleanish and have the most amazing views of the beach and the ocean at sunrise. they sit right on the beach and attract alot of sand but the floors sweep out easily enough. you can switch cabanas if you ask and get a different view. clean... more

It feels a bit wrong to rate the rooms of Papaya Playa with just one point, but it really is very simple. We paid 40 dollars for our bamboo bungalow, and the only things in there was two beds, a plastic table and a plastic chair. And a light bulb for the hours between 6 and 11 pm. Our bungalow... more

I'm not going to give this place the rating of poor - I've seen way worse. But it is a tourist trap, lazily exploiting its (admittedly beautiful) location but providing a bare minimum to guests. No complaints about service, they seemed perfectly friendly, but the bed was tiny and dirty, very uncomfortable, and really not good. Although travelling on my... more

We arrived while it was raining, so paradise at the beach didnt really apply. Though the staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful. We chose a wooden floor cabana, at the beach side. Now, the cabana doesnt really have anything but a bed, a mosquito net, a little table and 2 plastic chairs. It does have light at... more

We wanted to stay near the beach - by far the cheapest cabanas, we stayed in a basic cabana with a sand floor, and was fine if you just wanted to relax on the beach - not a place to stay if you want to spend all the time in the room! Daybeds by the sea were fantastic as was... more

We checked out a haf dozen or so places before we found Papaya Playa, we had seen cheaper, but they were grubby, and we had seen more expensive, but they weren't as friendly, Papaya Playa had it all, we were greeted by friendly staff with big genuine smiles, our Cabana was right on the beach front, with sand floor to boot,... more

The location is nice, right on the beach, but that is all there is. Cabanas are poorly furnished, well they are not at all furnished. At least they could put in a shelf or a closet, and two chairs would be nice. It's all very humid and I hate that. Toilets and showers were nice. It's far away from Tulum... more

We stayed for 3 nights on a whim and loved it. The staff are very friendly and helpful, although there was a double booking on our first night. Once we were in our cabin you couldn't have asked for a more peaceful, beautiful place to get away from it all. The view from the cabin was amazing. more
