First a little background on us. We are a married couple in our 50's who have stayed at a wide variety of hotels. Everything from 5 star hotels to sleeping in camp grounds with little more than a blanket and clothes in a bag for a pillow. We are very active and tend to like vactioning in places that represent... This place ain't the Ritz and it is designed for young backpackers. But we were right on the beach with a wonderful view. The meals and drinks were good. There was supposed to be a swimming pool, but all we found was small baths which didn't look attractive or popular. Of course there is the beach, and we got dumped... More

Hell on earth! Gas leaks... Sewerage disasters .. But the food is organic! They must use human waste to help it grow.. The staff are actually nice.. Shame about their working conditions! If you are lucky you get to listen to an ageing DJ from Berlin who assures you he will be back next year by which stage he will... More

During the entire time of our visit , the full shoreline in front of PPP was covered in a thick carpet of seaweed. I mean covered- up to my calf and 8 feet wide. Every wave just brought in more and more. I have never seen anything like it. Swimming was not possible. A crew worked daily to clean it... More

Papaya Playa Project – a hotel that really does seem to divide opinion between those people who can’t read, or expect too much, and those who are ready to embrace a simpler, calmer way of fulfilling their holiday needs with likeminded people. I booked this hotel after reading some really good feedback and doing research online, and so was completely... More

After a month in Mexico we ended our last 5 days at what we had been told was the fabulous Papaya Playa. Not so. Unless you: - like paying a minimum of $300 dollars per night for a poorly built and decorated wooden shed, with no plugs inside to charge your things - love really hard beds - if on... More

Lovely beach front cabana with small terrace facing and right next to the private beach. The cabana was set in landscaped grounds amongst other cabanas, spa facilities and the beach club restaurant + bar. The cabana was modest inside but perfectly comfortable and appropriately characterful for the location. The staff at the reception and at the beach club were very... More

We were looking for a heavenly beach in Tulum, and this one is truly amazing. However, we were kind of disappointed by the hotel itself: - it's a so called eco-lodge, but there are no limitations in terms of electricity, water, etc. I really wonder what's ecological in that hotel - the quality of the rooms is very poor -... I LOVED IT. But it is not for everyone. If your going to this hotel and area you have to know what you are getting yourself into. What you are paying is not the luxury where you have a butler, the most amazing room ammenities and luxury service, you are paying for the magnificent placement and purity this place has.... More

Terrible experience: hotel, restaurant, room, food, service...everything very bad. There are much better options around the hotel like HIP HOTEL The problems started at the check-in, once the room should be ready since 28/12 at 15:00h and I arrived on 29/12 at 13:00h and the room was not prepared and I had to wait. At the restaurant, after a long,... More
