Rancho traquilo was a great place to kick back and get away from the hustle and bustle from everyday life. It also was a very clean and friendly place that made me feel very comfortable. The rooms and staff were very accomidateing. The night life in tulum is a 10 min walk down the strip if you choose. The common... More

Attention the place is not on the sea! Even if it seems a green place directly on the sea it’s a fake garden directly on the main street of Tulum! To go to the marvelous Caribbean beaches you need a car not possible by foot. This is the main regret in choice Rancho Tranquillo, we thought that our stay in... More

Was told they'd hold a room with 3 beds w/bath while I drove over from Playa del Carmen in the morning. They didn't. Took the available cement box with thatched roof that looked like a Mexican jail cell. Yes garden was nice. Connected with tour guide for last minute snorkeling, also nice. I figured I wasn't visiting Mexico to look... More

5 pesos for a cup of water. 20 pesos to leave your bag in a corner. Giant rip off for a crappy location. Look elsewhere and support hostels who do honest business. More

We've been on the road since leaving RT, and everywhere we've staying since has been miles better. The cleaning apparently happens only once a week, crappy undercooked breakfast, dirty bathrooms, no housekeeping (unless you ask for it) and not so pleasant staff. We payed 340 pesos pr. night in the dorm and we're now paying 225 just up the street... More

I didn't love my stay at Rancho Tranquilo. The hut I got was cramped, the door did not close properly, the ceiling fan had clumps of dust like it hadn't been cleaned in months, the bed sheets were faded and mismatched patterns (solid, plaid and tiny flowers) instead of the standard white ones, the mosquito net looked like it had... The garden was beautiful, the cabanas were nice, there were hammocks on some of the porches and common areas if you needed to relax. There was complimentary breakfast and a kitchen that you were free to use. Not only were the staff very friendly, but there were so many common areas that we got to meet and make friends with...
