PLEASE BEWARE! This was the worst run hotel i have ever been to. The owner Melissa was non existent. If you want to go somewhere beautiful but has no power, water, ice, snacks, clean sheets, hot showers, and peace this is your place. There was no staff in my opinion and NOTHING ever got done. I am so exhausted from... more

Just pretty awful all around. The only thing good about it was it was in a more remote section of Tulum. The staff and owner were just plain creepy people. more

To begin with I requested a quiet room which they suggested a room and it turned out to be right next to the lobby. I expressed my concern about the possible noise to which I was told that it is a very quiet room. This was the first outright lie that I was told. Some of the other problems included:... more

I co-led a yoga and creativity retreat to Casa Magna in 2007 and again in 2008. We took 29 women for 6 days. I am writing to let people know how much improved the service and overall experience was. Melissa, the owner, was available and responsive throughout the week for helping us to deliver the kind of experience we envisioned... more

The trip was fantastic. The food was great and the side trips of kayaking, biking and beach walking were quite relaxing. Most of all the food was excellent. more

I have never been motivated enough to write a review, but the service at Casa Magna galled me so much, I felt obliged. We booked three rooms in Casa Magna, House 1 for the week before Christmas four months in advance. The good thing is you can go on their website, see the floorplans and pick which room you would... more

We recently returned from vacation at Casa Magna. Sure enough, the location of the hotel is absolutely marvellous - the beach is superb. And, unfortunately, sure enough, the reviews commenting on disorganization and service issues were also accurate. The food was inconsistent; asking for anything other than what was presented, while an option, was met with unahppy faces...it's as if... more

we recently spent more than a week at casa magna. the hotel is beautiful and that particular stretch of beach could not be nicer, but the woman who owns it, melissa, is a liability. she doesn't hold anything back in front of guests (even yelling at her staff). half-way through our stay she literally harrassed us for money, demanding that... more

Tulum is quite different from any other place in that all the hotels will ask for payment prior to arrival. Most of them will have guests wire funds to secure a room or if they check in, they will reqiure payment in full at the time of check in. We are the same. With this particular guests she was given...

My husband and I were recently married at Casa Magna (Nov 3, 2007). We daringly booked this place sight unseen based from rave reviews on ASmallWorld (a members only online site) -- it ended up being my fairy tale wedding!!! I work in public relations in New York City, as did the owner Melissa before taking over Casa Magna so... more
