Tulum may not be the hidden gem it was 20 years ago, but Hemingway gives one a taste. If you're not into a simple thatch roof bungalow with a fan and mosquito net and no nasty a/c, then go to your stinking all inclusive resort. But if you want simple restful beauty without being insulated from the environment to which... More

They mixed up the dates - our room was already booked. The hotel staff is rude and absolutely unprofessional. Salty water in room showers. The large part of beach cabanas are located either very close to each other or near the road (with some heavy trafic) - very few cabanas will get you privacy one would expect from so called... More

I just returned from a four night stay in Tulum where our party stayed at the Hemingway. There are two sides: ocean and jungle. We were fortunate in our ability to have ocean side accommodations which were a very short walk to the beach. The grounds around the cabanas were very well maintained and lush. The actual structures demonstrate a lot... More

We had the most amazing stay in this lovely place. The spacious Cabanas on the beach is the perfect get away . Hemingway is a pearl on the Tulum beach with the beautiful gardens and you notice the extra personal touch and the friendly staff that are happy to help with any questions and making the stay very comfortable. The... More

Our room(s) were really clean and tidy. Electricity was available via generator that was on at non-specific times every day, making it difficult to charge-up laptops & mobiles. Network was limited only around reception. Service was fine but food very limited variety, very expensive & unremarkable.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Hemingways having explored the area and checked out several other options. Hemingways is a tasteful resort on a nice piece of beach. We chose a cabana in the garden section on the other side of the road (I think they call them the 'Jungle Rooms'). We found the location to be very... More

Stayed 4 nights at Hemingway over President's Day weekend. My group had an overall positive experience, but there are some drawbacks. Here is a breakdown: PROS: GREAT location. Right in the heart of Tulum, right on the beach. I would definitely recommend a garden or sea view. The jungle rooms across the main road are newer, but it is not... More

We had reserved 2 bungalows for the dates 14-16 February. When we arrived, we were told at the reception that according to their information, we reserved the dates 15-16 February. We presented them with an email printout that proved our reservation dates and a printout of the prepayment charged. Nevertheless the receptionist stated bluntly that the hotel is fully booked... The most beautiful traditional cabanas steps from the powder white sand and swing on a floating bed looking at the turquoise ocean . I have very few bad things to say about Hemmingway! The rooms are nice with fans, mosquito nets, towels. Power does go off and on, but it was never a big problem. We could pick up the wifi from our room too. The beach is clean and beautiful and there's plenty of chairs and hammocks. The included breakfast was delicious,... More
