Last year I was in Tulum and we stayed in the cabanas on the beach and that was an amaaazing experience if you want to feel like you're on Lost or Blue Lagoon. This year we went back without reservation in hopes of staying in the cabanas. They didn't have space for us so we were rented a room. We... more

This hotel is one of the rare ones offering enough shade with its palm trees and enough space on the beach with its U-shape. The beach is gorgeous with its white sand. Some days, the algae were abundant and just a bit annoying while swimming but, at least they were carried away by the stream. Don't forget the sun screen!... more

Most of my thoughts have been previously expressed, but let me sum up. Incredible beach and overall location. Just under 10 minutes from town and 5 minutes from the alternate (non tourist mob) entrance to the Tulum Ruins. Los Arrecifes is just far enough out that there is very little traffic, but close enough you can get to town quickly... more

After exploring a number of accomodation choices along the beach in Tulum, we decided on Los Arrecifes, as it seemed to be the best value for both location and accomodations. We were a group of two couples, and were able to book two rooms side-by-side on the top floor of the "hotel-style" block of rooms for $100 each. These rooms... more

This is a very nice hotel, it is inexpensive compared to other hotels along the beach and is not too bad. The rooms are small, but clean, the amenities are not first class, but there is everything one needs; electricity is on only till midnight, but the candles are provided, which is very romantic. Even if the place looks cheaper... more

We "crashed" this small hotel after having heard insane prices for cabanas on the beach at other places. For $80, we got a two-bed room with tiger and unicorn bed covers, a small bathroom and running salt water. This can sound pretty spartanic, but it was in fact the price of paradise!!! We fit the three of us in the... more

Just arrived from Tulum. We decided to stay at Los Arrecifes after long research on the web. Tulum is a very long beach with all kind of hotels and if you walk up and down you can see them all next to each other’s, some are very fancy ecolodge, some barely survived the last hurricane and some are typical resort... more

I stayed at Los Arrecifes at the end of May and the beach was incredible! I did some research before I went and decided this would be a good balance of being on the beach and saving money. I paid 600 pesos (roughly $60 USD) a night for a room with two double beds and a patio with a hammock.... more

I chose this hotel upon arrival in Tulum. The beach is wonderful, definitely above average for the area, with soft white sand (a huge dune, in fact), palm trees, and very few rocks. I found the staff to be friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean, large and have nice views with balconies or porches and hammocks. The beds are... more

We stayed at Los Arrecifes just last month, for four nights. We had been so looking forward to visiting Tulum at the end of a three week trip around Mexico, and originally stayed in town. We hated it! We were aware we were being ripped off everywhere we went and that Tulum town was very much geared to Americans wanting... more
