A group of us stayed at Retiro Maya in Feb 2015. It's a very pretty place to stay, the cabanas have a thatched roof and it is next to the ocean. There's a nice little bar on the beach with usual tulum prices and great guacamole. The breakfast included is continental and the coffee is better than the weak coffee... More

We had none of the problems other visitors said they had - it's not a "grand luxe" hotel and it's somewhat pricey, but not compared to the other hotels in the area. It is very private and quiet. The room we had was simple, but clean. The staff was very helpful whenever we encountered a problem. We never had any... More

Overpriced ,skimpy breakfast and keep my ID why I don't know since they had my AMX on file then lost my Arizona licence in a small office in only 4 days. Then when I called for arrangement to pick up they told my they were not my babysitter, come pick up and upon arrival it was said to be lost.... More

We booked a ocean front room, which is spectacular, just steps away from the most stunning beach. But that's as good as it gets! The rooms are not cleaned properly and are very close together - our bathroom was attached to someone else main bedroom, so there isn't much privacy. They only open at 9am for breakfast, which is really... More

We didn't stay at hotel but had a great time at the beach and the beach front bar. Bartender was really laid back, made excellent drinks and was quite entertaining. Drinks were huge and prices very reasonable. Order the piña colada and tip well because he makes it with fresh pineapple.

The least you can say is that I was not impressed! For $250/night, I was expecting a nice comfy hut, and after travelling a little rough, I had decided to indulge a bit in Tulum to get some rest.... Well, it didn't quite work like that. The main issue was that the hot water wasn't working. According to them, that... More

The location is just fantastic. We had a room just in front of the seaside. Contrary to what most of the people are writing according to us the staff was nice and efficient. You have to take into account that several insects are living in the area and it is possible to find them in the rooms, which is normal,... More

This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere, clean rooms and a great beach. Our host was very helpful with recommendations on travel and local services. And, in our opinion, the best Italian food in Mexico is served a few doors down at Posada Margherita. We would definitely stay here again!

I really had a great time here. The staff was was wonderful and warm. The short walk to the beach and view from the room was amazing. The room was a decent size and serves its main purpose. Great for low key and a relaxing experience. The restaurant on site was amazing. Bruno, on of the main chefs was extremely... More

The interesting thing about most reviews on TripAdvisor is the way travellers combine their overall holiday experience when reviewing the accommodation they stayed in. Given my wife and I stayed in two places whilst we were in Tulum we can hopefully be a little more subjective. First of all, we loved Tulum, very chilled, beautiful beach, great food, great drinks,... More
