Reading about the EcoTulum resorts in Tulum, I was very excited and had wanted to go there for over 6 years. I booked 2 nights at Zahra, their cheapest cabana at $25/night, with shared bathroom. Zahra is right by the road, their bar and restaurant are as well. The cabana was okay, nothing special, but good for the price. The... more

After reading many of the negative reviews about Zahra and experiencing the place myself I have reached a conclusion; the dissatisfied customers posting on TripAdvisor are only dissatisfied because they were expecting a luxury resort and got humble beach bungalows. This isn't to say that they are wrong to be upset—Zahra's website and marketing suggest something far more extravagant, and... more

Tulum is quite stunning - but the hotel is kind of an anticlimax. There is nothing particularly "eco" about it at all - this just serves as an excuse to not have much running water, electricity, etc. In addition, the staff are quite surly and abusive - unfriendliness rules. more

It's been a long time since I've stayed here, but when I did... The restaurant was great. The cabin we stayed in was right on a small, lovely beach. I mean RIGHT ON THE BEACH. As in the cabin was in the sand. There was no lights after a certain time, the rooms had very rudimentary locks, so it wasn't... more

This property markets itself as an eco-lodge. On the plane going home, my husband and I asked ourselves, "what's the difference between this eco-lodge and a dump? Marketing!" Not at all as advertised. Our cabaña was indeed 20 meters from the beach, but the beach is part of another resort and the beach chairs and service are not for the... more

We just came back from Zahra and I need to write a review! We stayed in the Nohoch room and for 95 US dollars a night it is way overpriced. The room was clean but very simple. Don't expect much and bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. On the other hand, the view from the room was great! So... more

We chose Zahra for a weekend bachelorette party with 7 friends. We stayed in one of the two-story family cabanas next to the beach. It was perfect for us. Very spacious, clean, safe and quiet. More than enough space for 7 girls and all our stuff! We loved the privacy of the beaches on either side of the cabanas. It... more

I am getting married next month and decided to spend a relaxing weekend with my 7 best friends in Tulum. We chose Zahra because the family suite worked perfectly for us as we wanted to stay all together. Besides the great location, the two beautiful private beaches and the delicious food, the service and kindness of the people that work... more

We stayed at Zahra for 10 nights - 4 in cabana 17 and 6 in cabana 13. Everything was as expected since we had stayed at La Luna Maya two doors down the previous year. The rooms are not finished as nice as the suite at Luna Maya or the rooms next door in Piedra Escondida, but the prices were... more

Zahra is rustic and you must know that when you book with them. It was exactly what we expected...no more and no less (well maybe a little). We stayed in Nonoch and the room was decent sized. The biggest complaint I'd have about the room is that there is nowhere to sit down other than the beds. The beds were... more
