we had a reservation at the calm cabins for four days and decided to extend our stay to 5! dora was delightful every day, and gave us great recommendations for cool places to go in and around tulum. each one was a big winner. she always let us know where she would be, and she was extremely flexible with our... Calm Cabins is just off the main drag, close to the bus station, and fairly basic. We spent 6 nights there. Our room was clean and comfortable, spacious and well-fitted. The owner-host, Dora, serves breakfast in the open area in the compound; wholesome, filling and different every day. Dora is a gem: she knows the area well and will give... More

The room with private bathroom is the best. Mozy screens on all windows and doors. Excellent breakfasts, different everyday. Beautiful garden, sit and watch the 'Cinnamon Humming Birds' doing their thing or the Iguanas sunning themselves. The best is Dora, your host, who is so kind and friendly and happy to help with great local information. We will definitely be... More

After some hectic hostels, I was glad to stay on a calm place, close to the bus station, shop with fruit and vegetable, main avenue and a bike rental. Dora and her friend who helped with running the place were nice and helpful. I recommend this for persons who prefere calm and the opportunity to cook.

Two good friends recommended this place to us and we were really excited to experience all the things they told us about (great breakfast, familiar atmosphere, lovely place...) I don´t know if we were spoiled by all the nice places we stayed at before but we were very disappointed by Calm Cabins. The rooms are furnished basic - we knew... More

We had seen excellent reviews of Calm Cabins so decided to stay, in truth we booked at short notice and there wasn't much else available in Tulum. We were expecting basic accommodation, but we were surprised how shabby it is. We wanted somewhere to relax but ended up not wanting to spend any time there. Clanking gate right beside our... More

Dora's Calm Cabins Tulum is a great place for the back-packing traveler looking for a calm safe haven where he or she can just shower off the dust, lay back and relax. The hammock, the garden, the 2 private bungalows, the dormitory, the open kitchen... it's all there. This is not "Hilton" or "Intercontinental" but it is a place where... More

We entered by knocking on a green door in a wall and once the padlock was removed, entered a walled garden compound Containing a few buildings and a central patio with a table, clotheslines and a hammock. We stayed in the 2 private rooms which were quite basic but clean and secure. The mosquito nets were much appreciated. A tasty... More

I had the pleasure of staying at Calm Cabins. I was actually only meant to be briefly passing through Tulum...and in the end I stayed for over a week! Situated off the main road but close enough to the bars, restaurants and other amenities....Calm Cabins is a great peaceful place to base yourself....with a great garden to relax and kick... More
