We had originally booked into a hostel in Tulum town and planned to move to Zazilkin the next day, but after we went and looked at Zazilkin we checked out of the first place and into here. It's right on the beach and the views of the turquoise blue Caribbean are just gorgeous. The huts are pretty basic but really... more

We took a taxi from Tulum to Zazilkin and met two girls that we met on the bus walking out (not a good sign) there were cabanas left, however when we asked the price, were quoted 50 pesos more than the girls that had turned away, who were quoted 100 pesos over the Lonely planet price. The guy on reception... more

We showed up in Tulum without any place booked. First deception, all the prices are in US dollars...not in pesos... and all is waaaay more expensive that the rest of our trip in Yucatan. So once we accepted the fact that the price of the hotel or cabana in Tulum will be easy 3 times more than our hotel in... more

After a month traveling across Mexico and staying mainly in hostel we came to Tulum to end our trip on the beach for a week of relaxation. After a nights sleep we started scouting for anything else as Zazil Kin gives that feeling of sleeze. The woman who owns it is a slum lord. She keeps a security guard around... more

This place is great for young people, especially as a stop during a backpacking trip. Positives: right on the beach, very 'primal' feel that makes you feel close to nature (something you would not get in a hotel), your own cabana with mosquito net beds, coconut trees everywhere (you can ask the staff to break the coconuts for you!), mellow... more

I travelled throughot Mexico and found the most pleasant, friendly people everywhere. EXCEPT Zazil Kin! The first thing that you meet there is an aggressive, smirking, ignorant [--] of a receptionist! Also, the place is largely overpriced. Only thing I can say is: never again and hope you won't do the same mistake as I did. more

The only thing going for this hotel is its location on the beach, although there are about 50 other places you can stay along this same stretch of beach - I would suggest you try one of the others. Without wanting to bore you with an essay: *Staff - rude, unhelpful, unfriendly *Price - ridiculous & not the low prices... more

We have stayed in these cabanas (Cabana Chetumal) for 2 nights and really loved it! The beach is beautiful and very closeby. The cabana provides the basics: a bed, a musquito net and a fan which you can use in the evening and part of the night when electricity is provided. We didn't need the fan at all. Just open... more

I stayed here just before peak time in mid-December. I was a little worried based on what Lonely Planet (LP) was saying that: (1) this place is always packed and (2) that this is THE place to stay in Tulum. LP was right on the first one but not necessarily on the second point. All of the beachfront of Tulum... more

Unbeatable location right amidst white sand dunes, only 10 minutes from the Tulum Ruins. The cabanas are rustic- but secure with locks, cement floors and cement fill. Definitely not a glamourous stay- beds are spartan (they have mosquito net) and there are no facilities in the cabanas. Shared bathrooms are clean as are shared showers (cold water only but considering... more
