First, to help you evaluate my comments, I am a 34 year old gay guy from NYC. My partner and I have traveled quite a bit. We tend to stay at higher-end hotels, but prefer boutique-y or interesting ones to chain resorts. Ok, so this is a tough one to review because it is a different kind of experience. I... more

We just spent five days at Azulik, had two cabins. It was great, we raft rivers and like the outdoors, this was what we were looking for. The cabanas or huts are very clean, the view is fantastic and location is central to Tulum beach area. We could walk to several bars, restaurants and small shops on the beach. Azulik... more

What can I say? Azulik is simply magnificent! My husband and I (married 20+ years & well-seasoned travelers) had the chance to have a quick (4-day) no-kids getaway to Mexico in Feb 09. When we travel, it is usually with the kids, and we normally go to all-inclusive resorts, or at least family oriented. This time since we were going... more

First off, if you are planning a wedding in Tulum, this is a great spot to do it! Starting with Maria Lidia who helped me plan the event this resort is truely lucky to have her on staff. She was extremely accommodating at making everything i wanted happen for the big day. After months of back & forth conversations in... more

This hotel has the best spot in the whole of Tulum. Seriously. And there is a lot of choice. Picture perfect cabanas perched on the cliff with blissful beaches on either side. Total privacy, heavenly views and you dont have the sense of being on the beach with a miliion other cabanas like most of the other places have. The... more

I continually search for romantic resorts for my wife and I to reconnect once a year. These resorts are the same concept as Azulik. Based upon a view, overlook, lagoon ect. and always open air with a wall removed to emphasize the view. Plunge pools or soaking tubs are the norm. I was pleasantly surprised to find Azulik at a... more

We stayed in the honeymoon cabana (#12) for 4 nights and it was fabulous. Everyone that worked there was incredibly helpful, especially Edgar at the front desk. He told us the best places to shop without getting ripped off in town and was always incredibly helpful. He also let us charge our electronics and we always felt safe leaving those... more

Azulik was exactly what my husband and I needed, a perfect getaway in Paradise. We are both busy and stressed-out professionals who live in Washington, DC, and travel frequently for work. After a particularly trying and cold week in Washington, I told my husband I wanted to go away very last minute to a quiet beach somewhere to relax, find... more

There is nothing wrong with the idea of Azulik - decent sized thatched cabins and lovely wooden outdoor bathes with views over the sea, candlelight after dark. However, this is a budget experience at 4* prices. What on earth are you paying for? Azulik has no restaurant of its own so they send you to two neighbouring "resorts" in the... more

Thanks so much for taking the time to post your experiences. I am so sorry that your stay at Azulik was less than expected. I am also surprised that you found the villas to not be well maintained, as all of them underwent recent remodeling before the high season. We welcome any additional comments here or by email at guestrelations...

We stayed two nights between a stay at Blue Tulum (horrible!), and Mezzanine (very nice). This was the best of the three in terms of ambience. I've stayed at Copal before, a bit lower down the scale, the main difference to me was that Copal had a rough stone floor in the rooms that always seemed sort of wet and... more
