Pros: cute bungalows, amazing space and beach front length compared to all the squished together resorts, wonderful staff, pretty good restaurant, great yoga hall and instructors Cons: seaweed infestation is worst on this part of the beach so the beachfront is unswimmable completely (other resorts in south can remove enough to get in the water), no AC, no pool, bugs... Glad you liked the bungalows, we like to call them “palapas” as they are constructed by locals in the traditional Mayan fashion with roofs of native palm fronds. The big yoga hall is a particularly striking example That’s the advantage of being one of the first yoga resorts in the area, you get to pick the best spot and lay... More

I stayed at Maya Tulum for 4 days and was happy with the nice staff, delicious fresh food, and clean rooms. I wouldn't be upset about the seaweed problem if I knew to expect it, but when I specifically asked the resort about the seaweed I was told the resort has men cleaning the beaches daily and that there is no... Thank you for the nice comments about our staff, food and rooms, we are so glad to hear your feedback as everyone works very hard to make your experience enjoyable. We appreciate your attitude regarding the Sargassum seaweed and we’re sorry our communication to you wasn’t ideal. The Sargassum seaweed affects the entire coast and of course it is a... More

I LOVE THIS PLACE. No need for shoes from the time you arrive until the time you leave unless you go for a bike ride. Fantastic staff, superior spa treatments, great yoga teachers, wonderful environment. Not a place for a high-maintenance traveler who must have a hair dryer and AC -- but there's really no need for those things here.

My friend and I had a great time here!. The room was very nice, private with a great view of the ocean (and it was only a partial oceanview room), it was so nice to go to sleep hearing the sound of the ocean waves. The grounds are kept up well and it's quiet and peaceful. Had a great massage!... More

While Maya Tulum was perfect in many ways, there were several elements that fell short and disturbed me. There was a sewage smell in some areas, and the water from shower smelled putrid. The food was bland. The staff was not altogether attentive. The yoga classes were limited. The masseuses cut sessions short .

I've returned to Maya Tulum every winter for close to 20 years. A testament to the resorts quality and consistency. We always bring friends typically professionals looking to unplug and have a relaxing healthy week - they've all left fans. Some have their favorite palapa - 28 near the dining hall or 8 on the beach or the 7u -... More

I was at Maya Tulum last week and there is a major issue at the property that they are failing to tell their future guests about. Tulum has been clobbered by an avalanche of seaweed of biblical proportions. The prolblem is not Maya Tulum's fault but how they are handling it is. When you arrive at the property after the... The resort is a no frills yet relaxing yoga focused property situated directly on the beach. Before leaving the airport, be sure to use the bathroom and buy a bottle of water and snack. The ride from the airport to the resort is about 2 hours without any check point delays. Due to its proximity to the jungle (across the... More

I've traveled to Maya Tulum twice now as a solo traveler and cannot say enough good things about this resort. I always felt safe, the resort is clean, food is wonderful and the yoga classes are top notch. The spa is the highlight and what I look forward to the most! The treatments are world class and the prices are... More

Tulum has one of the best beaches in the world and there is no exception to this resort being located on an amazing beach! The resort itself including the rooms(at least the one I stayed in which was directly facing the ocean) was great. Simple with sufficient space. It was so relaxing to fall asleep with the sound of the... More
