My review cannot clash more strongly with some of the recent negative postings of Azucar. Having twice stayed at Azucar, the praiseworthy attention of the people operating Azucar (with special recognition of Alejandro in reception, Martha with room cleaning, and Monica in scheduling) is exceeded only by the iconic view of the Caribbean from the hammock swing of the Lunamielera... It was a dream to spend our weekend in Tulum. We' re good friends from Russia, Ukraine and Mexico. All of us work in tourism for many years in different countries and now we live and work in Mexico. We chose " romantic" hotel " Azucar" .As 2 of us are pregnant we chose a quiet and peaceful place. But... More

I visited Tulum a few years back and after travelling since then, no matter where I go I still always compare it to Tulum. It was such a beautiful experience. The bungalows were perfect they had an awesome balcony facing the most amazing white sand and blue water. I don't advise staying any longer than 4 nights within your travels... More

Ok straight up, this is not luxury. We knew we were not paying for a five star and Azucar exceeded our expectations. Yes the staff is almost non-existent, yes there are no amenities, yes the fridge/freezer didn't work sometimes and the electricity went out nightly- but so what? We had the beach to ourselves from morning 'til night, the staff... More

Grossly overpriced & place next door holds a rave which goes on until mid-day & for the price you pay you can go to any of the far better hotels further up the beach. No reception, nowhere to complain. Only a few helpful but powerless employees. On new year's day all the deck chairs are taken by drunken comatose revellers.

The hotel is rustic but has all the necessary infrastructure: a decent room with a comfortable bed, mosquito net, good shower, freezer, safe and… a few steps from the sea. They do not offer breakfast but have maid service every day that replenishes mineral water and soap. Me and my wife stayed in the cottage Lunamielera, the only one that... More

Great place, basic and with all necessary structure. The Internet was better than another comments! A few steps from the sea, really wonderful with white sand! The room are rustic with some candlelight. The price is very good comparative with others rooms

the general manager which is in Mexico Citi is a LIAR - she over booked the cabana and LIED to me saying my reservation was wrong. Booking.com confirmed SHE changed it, which this should not happen, they property should not have access to change reservations or dates.. i rent that place because of the electricity and the fridge since i... This place sure beats camping in a tent. I see it as luxury camping in an amazing location! I've roughed it on many vacations so it wasn't shocking to me to have no A/C especially with the strong ocean breeze. It kinda sucked when we lost power the first night so our fans didn't work. We lost water the next... More

Well the two reviews before are about a perfect description of the place. Don't get me wrong, I'm no snob and was looking forward to staying in a place with no AC. We stayed in the family cabana since there were five of us. The room was very rustic, which was ok but the fact that there was not ample... More
