Our stay at El Pez was for 9 nights. We echo all the superlative comments from previous reviews (they are fully justified). Tulum and it's beach areas is very 'laid back' and and after only a few days we were really 'chilled out' with our stress levels down to zero. El Pez is in a beautiful location and the rooms... More

After reading some of the recent reviews, I couldn't help but shake my head. I'm not sure what these guests are expecting or accustomed to from travels to other hotels and resorts, but this place was absolutely extraordinary. Ashley and Roy were so friendly and made us feel safe and secure on our stay. This resort is truly special. The... More

A quick summary of our stay: Pro's - Beautiful Cabanas, ocean views - Overall very well designed, dark wood and thatched main hotel area; each of the hotel's buildings were very thoughtfully and stylishly designed. - Nice balconies to look over the water and rocks and nice beach loungers on cabana decks and on beach areas OK - Stretch of... My partner and I were lucky enough to spend 4 nights at El Pez in early December. Located right in the heart of the beach/tourist area of Tulum, we were easily accessible to all the local restaurants, shops, and beach (which is right outside any room at El Pez). We had driven down from Cancun, so parking was essential and... More

This was our first visit to Tulum for a relatively quick getaway from cold new england (4 nights). El Pez has some really great views. It's situated in a cove, so the landscape is more interesting, in my opinion, to look at at than the straight beach settings of the lodges down the road (although those are pretty sweet views... The hotel is small, comfortable and well furnished. The staff is friendly and professional. Our room had a nice balcony. Good breakfast: fresh fruit, fresh orange juice, bread and croissants. The weather was nice and the locals were warm and friendly. It was my second year anniversary and it was a wonderful one. Top choice for a great Mexican getaway. More

I am of two minds about the Pez. I found the design of the lobby attractive, but our room was smallish and almost bereft of furniture ( no chairs, no table). There was a terrace facing the sea, but with no lights or electric plugs. Most weirdly, there's no doors to the bathrooms. Want to read or surf the net... More

If you are looking for a mega resort. Stay away. Honestly, stay away because this slice of paradise needs to be preserved. We stayed on the upper floor, looking over the ocean which was a stone's throw away. Room was gorgeous, clean and comfortable. Breakfasts are delicious. Fresh fruit, granola, yogurt and an omelette or other hot plate. This part... More

We did not chose to stay at El Pez, having been moved there from La Zebra, however we did love the peaceful setting and the wonderful views of the pelicans. the rooms were really well designed making the most of the space and the hotel had a great aesthetic, quirky, original and very cool. The beach just along from El... More
