Loved Don Diego. We previously stayed a place north of PDC called Kailuum (RIP) and really like the very simple, rustic accomodations. The previous reviews we read were right on. If you particular and are used to having a full service lodging and are only checking Don Diego out because of the price, this is not your place. The tents... More

I just returned from Tulum and my boyfriend and I couldn't get over how amazing our time was there, and much of that is thanks to Don Diego de la Playa. It's perfect if you are looking to be right on the beach and are looking for a safe, comfortable and friendly place to lay your head. They have cabanas... More

This type of lodging would not be for eveyone. We were advised to try it for one night--perhaps because we are in our 60's or perhaps because we are American. I think people assume all Americans want air conditioning, electricity and a private bath. Most do, I think. I really can't think of any of our friends who would try it..... More

If you want to disconnect, simplify, and just enjoy being at a beautiful beach, this is the place to go. No television, no phones, limited electricity, and with the common bath a short walk across the sand, its simplicity and beautiful beach is the attraction. The staff speaks limited English, but are lovely people who make you feel very at... More

If you want to be out of the way of most of the touristas, spend a couple of days in sandy paradise, eat some incredible food, and relax your face off, all for a pittance, then this is your place. We reserved for 2 nights and ended up staying 4. Sure, you're in a tent (a really nice one!). Sure,... More

These Bedouin tents located on the beach are charming. Wood floors, queen sized bed, high ceiling and bug netting make these tents very comfortable. Could use more ventilation as the electric fan and lights are cut around 9pm each night. A security guard patrols the property from dusk til early morning. The caretaker's cooks a great lunch (lobster is recommended)... More

My husband and I just returned from spending 3 nights at Don Diego de la Playa. The positives: friendly owners and the family that lives on-site is very nice and helpful, the tents are interesting, the breakfast is good, and they do have a security guard on duty at night (which is good since you have no door to lock... Let's just say that I'm not usually a happy camper. I don't like bugs, sharing bathrooms or sleeping under the stars. I think it's because I was forced to do that a lot as a kid, with my grandparents being serious campers and all... Anywho, Don Diego de la Playa made a happy camper out of me. The rooms are... More
