Things have changed a bit since reading the latest reviews before mine. The couple with the small child are not there and it is now being run by a younger member of the family and his sister. Noise level goes up and down, being mostly loud at night; however, if you are in one of the upstairs room you won't... More

This is a family run hostel by a hard-working couple with a baby. There is a kitchen, open air terrace with hammocks, bikes and snorkel gear to rent and shared bathrooms with hot water showers.Laura and Alberto work round the clock- literally- to make sure that their guests have the tools and knowledge to access Tulum ruins, cenotes, and beach. We stayed in one of the... If you plan on getting 16 mosquito bites to the face, then by all means sleep at this place. Other than the mosquito bites, the place was: LOUD, DEPRESSING, and UNCOMFORTABLE. The owners had two kids who were bloody loud. My boyfriend and I felt like we were scammed by the owner because he had told us that he had... More

Casa del Sol is by far the friendliest and most home-like hostel I've been to. Alberto, the owner, is an extremely nice guy and will help in all matters. The hostel itself is quite new. It has dorms and private rooms with either a private or a shared bathroom. It's quite well located, just three block south from the bus... More

I love the personal aspect of staying at hostels and getting to know the people that own, work and stay at the hostels. We really enjoyed our stay at Casa del Sol. We were there for about a week. Lucy and Alberto helped make our stay very special. Lucy made us food in the morning. She kept purified water so... More

We loved this hostel. We have stayed at both The Weary Traveler and Casa del Sol. The Traveler had its own charm, but it was very very loud at night and bed bugs have been an issue. It's also much darker and dirtier. Del Sole is new, clean, airy, and open with protected kitchen and hammock areas when it rains.... More

We stopped by this hostel earlier this month in hopes of staying there a few nights. We knew only a few words of Spanish, but enough to communicate that we were interested in lodging. We asked if we could look at the rooms and bunks, but instead of letting us look around, a very pushy older woman kept following us... More

I was one of their first guests, when the builders were still there. Carlos and Alberto looked after me as though I were family. During my stay I went to Cuba for ten days and they looked after my bags. They cooked for me, took me out to the best places to eat. Some days they even took me to... More

We stayed at Casa del Sol for one night only. We did not have very high expectations since we just wanted to have enough time to see the ruins. However, we were not all that impressed. There was problems with the booking since the place has two homepages and 7 telephonenumbers of which none worked at the time. Once we... More
