Ive visited Cancun at least a dozen times allways staying ay the Ritz Carlton once at Le Meridian and have been curious about the " Riviera Maya " The Fairmont was a perfect choice! Dont bother with the poor reviews my guess is they were based on very limited travel expieriece especially in the luxury category. The service was spot... more

This was the best trip of my life. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is friendly (they knew our names by our first evening there), the restaurants are amazing (lobster tails as big as my head -- no lies!), the spa is incredible (I recommend the massage for couples -- divine), the proximity to sites is good. We used the... more

This year's family vacation (mom, dad & 8 year-old) was perfect in every way. First, we got very reasonable rates at this time of year (summer is Cancun's slow season) and due to the swine-flu & economic downturn, flights were relatively cheap too. The Mayakoba is about 30 mins. south of the airport, and 15 mins. north of Playa del... more

I can't say enough good things about the service, staff, and the resort itself and am shocked that Fairmont Mayakoba isn't one of the top rated resorts in the Riviera Maya area on Tripadvisor. I had contacted reservations and the concierge by email prior to arrival and they promptly took care of all my requests. On arrival, we were shocked... more

Let me start by saying that this is one of the best hotel experiences I've had in recent memory. Fantastic experience! The Fairmont Mayakoba is located on the Yucatan's Mayan Riviera near Playa del Carmen. The Mayakoba property is quite large and absolutely stunning and it's impressive that such a large place with so many outbuildings (the "casitas" that make... more

Upon my return from Fairmont Maykoba, I happened to read the review from the earlier post dated Memorial Day 2009; I couldn't have written it better myself. We had the same lavish treatment, had a double room upgrade, and well and truly were treated like royalty without ever being made to feel like we paid for it. From Hugo greeting... more

(4.5 stars.) I spend almost 100 nights in hotel rooms each year and only rarely post reviews on Tripadvisor. Only occasionally do I feel my insights can add to the already lengthy body of information available here on virtually any hotel or resort worldwide. However, I knew I would post a review of the Fairmont Mayakoba even before I arrived... more

Lobby, rooms and pools are very nice. Big and luxury rooms and beds, nice ambience, but food at the resort´s restaurants is not as good as they charge for. more

We spent a week at the Mayakoba and I can not wait to return! I was a little hesistant after reading some of the reviews about how the resort is set up and the beach not being super clear.....I am so glad we stayed here! The water is crystal blue--we also had amazing weather!!! I have 3 young kids and... more
