I stayed at the Illusion for 4 nights in March 2009. This was my 6th trip to Playa, but my first time staying at the Illusion. It was wonderful. While I love a beach town, I am not too crazy about the beach sand, so the rooftop pool with sunning deck at the Illusion really sold me on this property.... more

We split our week in Mexico between Akumal and Playa to experiment with an all inclusive vs a smaller room only option, and found this hotel using trip Advisor. What an enjoyable stay! The staff was friendly, the room beautiful. What a treat to enjoy the pool deck on the 4th floor, an ocean view, close access to the beach & shopping. Nice massage huts on the top floor. Even an elevator! more
